Audiences up 20% for the 59th Running of the DAYTONA 500 on TSN

– NASCAR’s iconic DAYTONA 500 attracts an average audience of 534,000 viewers, the largest since 2013 –

TORONTO (February 27, 2017) – In a chaotic race featuring multiple blown leads and a tumultuous final lap, audiences are up significantly for Sunday’s thrilling 59th running of the DAYTONA 500one of 60+ championship events that live on TSN. Overnight data from Numeris confirms that an average audience of 534,000 tuned in to TSN’s comprehensive DAYTONA 500 coverage – up 20% over last year, and the largest audience since 2013.

Audience levels peaked at 674,000 viewers at 5:54 p.m. ET as Chase Elliot, Kyle Larson, and Ryan Blaney jockeyed for the lead with only 43 laps remaining. Overall, more than 2.3 million individual Canadians watched some part of Sunday’s DAYTONA 500 coverage on TSN, up 35% compared to last year.

As part of a multi-year rights extension announced earlier this month, TSN will broadcast all races from the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series™ and NASCAR XFINITY Series™, as well as deliver comprehensive coverage of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series™. TSN also delivers exclusive qualifying, practice sessions, and encore presentations. The multi-platform agreement features expanded digital rights of these NASCAR series across the networks’ digital and social media platforms.
