TORONTO (May 27, 2017) – CTV News and Bell Media Radio properties were honoured for excellence in electronic journalism during the annual RTDNA of Canada National Conference Gala in Toronto this evening.

Before an audience of fellow electronic journalists and news managers, the RTDNA honoured CTV NATIONAL NEWS WITH LISA LAFLAMME with the distinguished Bert Cannings Award for Best Network Television Newscast for the sixth consecutive year. CTV Toronto took home the Bert Cannings Award for Best Large Market Television Newscast for CTV NEWS AT SIX, and CTV Kitchener was named Best Medium Market Newscast for the second year in a row. W5 took home multiple national awards, including the Trina McQueen Award for Best Television News Information Program.

In total, Bell Media properties took home 13 awards this evening, bringing the 2017 tally of national and regional RTDNA awards to 47, including two prestigious regional Lifetime Achievement Awards for CTV Montreal’s Mutsumi Takahashi and CTV Calgary’s David Spence.

On the radio front, Bell Media’s radio stations NEWSTALK 1010 (Toronto) received National Award honours, garnering the Peter Gzowski Award for Best Radio News Information Program adding to its regional wins. In sports, TSN took home a national award for Feature Sports Reporting.
