Spring 2016 Numeris Surveys: Bell Media Remains Top Radio Broadcaster in Montréal’s English-Language Market Thanks to Virgin Radio 96, CHOM 97 7, CJAD 800, and TSN Radio 690

– Bell Media’s Montréal stations further confirm their undeniable appeal among listeners and advertisers –

MONTRÉAL (June 9, 2016) – PPM data from the spring 2016 Numeris surveys published today confirm that Bell Media remains the top radio broadcaster in Montréal’s English-language market. Through its stations Virgin Radio 96, CHOM 97 7, CJAD 800, and TSN Radio 690, Bell Media controls a combined total of 76 commercial shares among adults aged 25-54.1 Moreover, when adding the market shares controlled by its French-language radio stations ÉNERGIE Montréal 94.3 and 107,3 Rouge fm, Bell Media reaches a grand total of 4.1 million listeners per week.2 Besides underscoring the popularity of Bell Media’s six Montréal stations with listeners, the results further confirm their undeniable appeal among local and national advertisers.

Montréal’s English-language market

This spring, Virgin Radio 96 remains the most popular station among adults aged 25-54 in Montréal’s English-language segment with 26.6 commercial shares.1 It’s also still the most popular among women aged 25-54, with 29.3 commercial shares.1 Boasting a total of 2,072,000 listeners, this also makes Virgin Radio 96 the top station in terms of total reach among the city’s English-language stations.2

CHOM 97 7 has risen to second place among the most popular stations with adults aged 25-54 with 24.7 commercial shares (up 10% from last winter)1, reaching a grand total of 1,615,000 listeners.2 It is also the most popular with its target audience, namely men aged 25 to 54, with 30.8 commercial shares.1 Indeed, all programs airing on CHOM 97 7 weekdays from 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. rank first among English-speaking men aged 25-54 for a second consecutive survey.3

Meanwhile, CJAD 800 remains the most popular station with audiences aged 2 and over with 34.2 commercial shares.1 The station boasts 486,000 listeners this spring,2 securing 20.3 commercial shares among adults aged 25-54 in Montréal’s English-speaking market.1 CJAD 800’s ratings are consistently growing, with the station gaining 4 commercial market shares among adults aged 25-54 compared to the same period last year!1 Moreover, with its 25 shares, the ANDREW CARTER MORNING SHOW reigns as the most popular morning show with English-speaking listeners aged 25-54.3

Lastly, sports station TSN Radio 690 boasts a total of 185,000 listeners and 4.4 commercial shares among adults aged 25-54.1

Montréal’s French-language market

Among Bell Media’s French-language stations, ÉNERGIE Montréal 94.3 enjoys a grand total of 1,443,000 listeners2 this spring, as well as 11.5 commercial shares among adults aged 25-54.1 The ÉRIC ET LES FANTASTIQUES program (airing weekdays from 4 to  6 p.m.) posted excellent results. Indeed, besides its growing renown in Montréal, it has ranked first in its timeslot among adults aged 25-54 across the province since its launch last fall!4

Lastly, 107,3 Rouge fm boasts 1,575,000 listeners2 this spring and 16.3 commercial shares among adults aged 25-54, up 4% from last winter.1 The station has also posted a 4% increase among women aged 25-54, with 19.2 commercial shares.1 Moreover, Rouge fm has announced yesterday that its brand new evening drive show will be hosted by Marie-Claude Barrette, along with co-hosts Brigitte Lafleur and Karine Champagne, as of August 15.
