TED RADIO HOUR Launches on Bell Media Radio News/Talk Stations April 2

– Based on the world-renowned TED TALKS series, TED RADIO HOUR brings the beloved TED brand, along with the world’s leaders, thinkers, and doers, to Canadian listeners –

TORONTO (March 21, 2016) – Bell Media Radio announced today it has secured the weekly, one-hour series TED RADIO HOUR for its family of news/talk radio stations. Based on Talks given by riveting speakers on the world-renowned TED stage and seen online by more than one billion viewers, TED RADIO HOUR debuts Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3 (see schedule below). Episodes slated to air in the first four weeks feature speakers including Chris Hadfield, Bill Gates, Richard Branson, James Cameron, Tony Robbins, Sheryl Sandberg, Sting, and Temple Grandin.

Already home to some of the most provocative thinkers and commentators on Canadian radio, Bell Media Radio’s News/Talk stations are poised to raise the stakes on fascinating ideas as presented by the world’s most remarkable minds with TED RADIO HOUR. Hosted by Guy Raz and heard on NPR in the United States, TED RADIO HOUR is a journey through fascinating ideas: astonishing inventions, fresh approaches to old problems, new ways to think and create.

“The remarkable voices and exceptional talents presented in each TED RADIO HOUR are a natural fit for Bell Media Radio’s news/talk stations, where ideas, innovation, and critical thinking are the cornerstones of our programming,” said Randy Lennox, President, Entertainment Production and Broadcasting, Bell Media.

“Talk radio remains a growing, vibrant, and vital medium to millions of listeners across the country, and we are delighted to deliver even more riveting, world-class content to Canadian airwaves with this dynamic and powerful brand,” said David Corey, Vice-President, Programming, Bell Media Radio.

TED RADIO HOUR is among TED’s most popular content channels, bringing engaging new ideas to a broad demographic that includes young and diverse listeners,” said Deron Triff, TED’s Head of Media Partnerships. “We are delighted to now partner with Bell Media Radio to bring TED RADIO HOUR for the first time to such a large Canadian broadcast audience.”

Each episode of TED RADIO HOUR is centered on a common theme – such as the source of happiness, crowd-sourcing innovation, power shifts, or inexplicable connections – and injects soundscapes and conversations that bring these ideas to life. TED RADIO HOUR is a co-production of NPR and TED.
