Winter 2016 Numeris Survey Reveals Bell Media Remains Top Radio Broadcaster in Montréal’s English-language Market

– CJAD 800, Virgin Radio 96, CHOM 97 7, and TSN Radio 690 secure a combined total of 76.6 commercial market shares among adults 25-54(1) –

MONTRÉAL (March 10, 2016) – PPM data from the Winter 2016 Numeris survey unveiled today confirm that Bell Media remains the top radio broadcaster in Montréal’s English-language market. Thanks to its stations CJAD 800, Virgin Radio 96, CHOM 97 7, and TSN Radio 690, combined total of 76.6 commercial shares among adults aged 25-54.1 Moreover, when adding its French-language radio stations ÉNERGIE Montréal 94.3 and 107,3 Rouge fm, Bell Media reaches nearly 4 million listeners per week, once again reflecting these six stations’ sheer popularity.2

Montréal’s English-language market

With its 28.6 commercial market shares, Virgin Radio 96 remains the most popular station among adults 25-54 in Montréal’s English-language segment this winter.1 Virgin Radio 96 boasts a total of 1.958 million listeners, also making it the top station in terms of total reach among the city’s English-language stations.2

Besides reaching a total of 1.430 million listeners this winter,2 CHOM 97 7’s increase in listeners put it in a tie for second place among the most popular stations with adults 25-54, with 22.5 commercial shares, 6% more than last fall.1 It is also the most popular with its target audience, men aged 25 to 54, with 29 commercial shares.1 Monday through Friday, from 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., all programs that aired on CHOM 97 7 ranked first among English-speaking men aged 25-54.3

Meanwhile, CJAD 800 boasts 457,000 listeners2 and 19.8 commercial shares among adults aged 25-54 in Montréal’s English-language market. CJAD 800 also remains the most popular station with audiences aged 2+, with 35.6 commercial shares.1 The popularity of Andrew Carter’s program has an impressive 36 commercial shares, and it remains the most popular morning show with audiences aged 2+ within the English-language market.3 All programs that aired weekdays on CJAD, from 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., led their respective segments among English-speaking listeners aged 2+.3

Lastly, sports station TSN Radio 690 boasts a total of 230,000 listeners2 this winter and 5.7 commercial shares among adults aged 25-54.

Montréal’s French-language market

Among the Bell Media French-language stations, 107,3 Rouge fm boasts 1.662 million listeners2 this winter and 15.7 commercial shares among adults aged 25-54.1 Meanwhile, ÉNERGIE Montréal 94.3 reached 1.330 million listeners2 and secured 11.8 commercial shares in the 25-54 segment.1
