Last Stop Garage

Mondays at 9 p.m. ET and 9:30 p.m. ET

Synopsis

From the makers of Discovery’s most-watched series CANADA’S WORST DRIVER, LAST STOP GARAGE stars a motley crew of mechanics who operate out of CRB Automotive – a family-owned garage in North West River, located at one of the furthest driveable points on the eastern seaboard. Using their sometimes questionable backwoods resourcefulness, the ingenious automotive hack specialists put their “mechanical magic” to work, fixing and building just about anything for anyone in the remote town of 553 residents. With a whole lot of heart, they “get’er done, Labrador-style.” Just as the community relies on the shop, the mechanics rely on the eccentric locals for wisdom, parts, and a helping hand.

Skidder Tow Truck

A local woman loses control of her vehicle and it ends up trapped far down an ice-covered embankment. Collin (owner), Corey (lead mechanic), and Stan (general manager) attempt to pull it out with their shop truck, but soon realize it’s a lost cause – the angle is too steep and their truck is not powerful enough. The boys hatch a plan to use the back half of their old broken-down tow truck and attach it to a giant skidder to create an off-road rescue machine.

Snow Bus Resurrection

Collin, Corey, and Stan are asked by an outfitter to get his antique snow bus up and running again. The bus has been left abandoned in a backyard for 10 years and old parts are hard to come by, so it will be no easy feat. The skis are bent out of shape, the gas tank is rotten, and the motor won’t start, but with backwoods ingenuity, the boys give it an overhaul just in time for an old-fashioned snow tour.

Rink-Making Machine

The town doesn’t have an ice rink, but that’s not going to stop the garage from hosting a charity hockey game. Collin, Corey, and Stan start by attaching two snow-blowers to the front of an ATV in order to clear a mountain of snow off the lake. Then, they attempt to complete their “rink-making machine” by building a homemade ice resurfacer on the back.

Collin and Corey are called out to do some trail-side service when the only trail-groomer in town breaks down. The “snowmobile highway” will be closed until they can repair the trail-groomer and get it back into commission with the help of almost everyone from the garage, including Stan. They have to hoist the massive machine onto a sled, tow it to safety, and fix it up, all before sundown.

The tank will weigh 3,000 pounds when it’s full and her snowmobile doesn’t have enough power to pull even half of that. Collin Baikie
X_gray

Collin Baikie

At the age of 15, with no experience, Collin Baikie started his own repair shop inside a shed in North West River, Labrador. Baikie and his brother Corey grew up fixing snowmobiles and vehicles, and would fix anything that came through the door to earn money. After years of hard work, he established CRB Automotive – a business that is essential to the community. Baikie’s Aboriginal, hardworking background motivates him and his employees to make CRB grow. In addition to running CRB, he is a professional MMA fighter and former Québec middleweight victory champion. He trains daily and spends approximately seven months a year training in Montréal alongside UFC world champion George St. Pierre, as well as in Ontario alongside first-time Canadian Ultimate Fighter winner Chad Laprise. His victories and experience have made him a local celebrity and mentor within the community of North West River.

Corey Webber
X_gray

Corey Webber

Corey Webber dropped out of school in the eighth grade and moved out on his own when he was just 16 years-old. As a natural born gear-head and problem solver, he taught himself how to build and fix machines of any kind – from small engines to massive dump trucks. After work, he likes to trick out snowmobiles and invent gadgets from scratch. Webber is the self-taught mad genius who can fix and build just about anything. He comes up with the plans, assigns the tasks, and bosses around the assistant mechanics in the shop. Webber has the unique ability to turn nothing into something with his MacGyver-like magic.

Stan Oliver
X_gray

Stan Oliver

Stanley Oliver is the former deputy mayor of Labrador’s largest town Happy Valley-Goose Bay (population 8,100). He was happily retired from Labrador politics when Collin and Leander Baikie, the owners of the local CRB Automotive recruited him to manage the garage. Oliver is known to be a sharp-witted, hilarious manager, but also a self-described “midget who fights dirty.” He runs a tight ship. No one dares to cross him – not even the MMA fighter. Oliver is a true father figure to all the young staff and is able to make disparate characters work together. Plus, he’s not afraid to keep unruly customers under his thumb. In his spare time, he’s an active volunteer and in high demand to emcee charity events.

Melinda Baikie
X_gray

Melinda Baikie

Melinda Baikie is a hard-driving, whip-smart lady who takes no nonsense from anyone. She is married to Leander and together they have three grown children, Amanda, Justin, and Collin. She’s also a grandmother of three, and can often be referred to as the “mom” of the shop. She’s a tough, laughing momma-bear who gives financial advice to management and office staff.  Melinda’s role at CRB Automotive is to manage the finances, handle HR, and keep everyone in line.

Leander Baikie
X_gray

Leander Baikie

Leander Baikie is Collin’s father and biggest fan. Baikie has his hands in every aspect of the family business, from fixing pumps to designing buildings. Much to the humiliation of everyone else, he’s always trying to expand the business with newfangled ideas (A restaurant! A corner store! A gym!). When he is not at the shop, Baikie is very active as a well-known musician with his own local following. While everyone is busy trying to play catch-up, he will try to syphon off time to lend a hand. And as someone who grew up in North West River, he knows everyone and is incredibly resourceful at finding parts or elements the garage needs.

Ross
X_gray

Ross

Ross is CRB Automotive’s gas bar manager and expert scrounger. At times, he’s been known to be very crabby, but no one will berate or fire him – he’s been at CRB since day one (some will say far too long)! He grew up with Leander and Melinda Baikie and has lived in North West River, Labrador his whole life. The CRB management team is constantly trying to get him to change his ways, to be cheery, and less combative. But he is stubborn and doesn’t like change. Ironically, his lack of humour is the basis for much comic relief at the garage.

Amy Parsons
X_gray

Amy Parsons is Collin Baikie’s second cousin and Corey Webber’s girlfriend. She is a beautiful tomboy who can drive just about any motorized vehicle, including dump trucks, and doesn’t mind helping the mechanics bleed brakes. Powell’s earned the nickname ‘Clydesdale’ because he’s strong, loyal, and a true work horse.
