City regulations

There are many regulations for Creative Executions, the following outlines are the basic guidelines; please note that each execution will be assessed on a case by case basis by Astral OOH and the City of Toronto and/or the City of Montreal.

  • City of Toronto Creative advertising guidelines

    All specials projects must meet the following criteria:

    • Not compromise public safety and security.
    • Not alter the inside space or accessibility of the shelter in any manner.
    • Deliver messaging that is acceptable to all members of the public.

    Transit Shelter

    BASIC GUIDELINES

    • Partial glass wall wraps is permitted providing we meet TTC/City specific guidelines;
    • No branding or advertising messaging is allowed on the glass, roof or floors, only on the ad faces;
    • Transit shelter roofs, support posts, ad case and floors may be wrapped;
    • 3-D elements may be added on the roof or outside ad face if they meet TTC/City specific guidelines;
    • Audio must be opt-in and limited to 65db;
    • Benches may be altered by wrapping, or may be replaced if the original footprint, height, seating and access are maintained;
    • The city will not allow scents, cameras or motion sensor activated interactions.

    Street Columns

    BASIC GUIDELINES

    • Interactive screens with video and audio content may be used if they are opt in;
    • 3-D extensions may be used on top of column structures;
    • The interior may be used to create show cases;
    • Wrapping of column structures is permitted;
    • Opt in audio executions are permitted;
    • Sampling may be permitted by third party sample teams, providing we meet city specific guidelines;
    • The sidewalk may be decaled (non-slip), providing we meet city specific guidelines;
    • Scents are allowed.

    BASIC GUIDELINES

    • 3-D toppers may added to Mega Columns;
    • The structures may be wrapped;
    • The side walk surrounding the Mega Column may be wrapped, providing we meet city specific guidelines;
    • Opt In audio is permitted;
    • The interior of the structure may be used to create show cases;
    • Scents and third party sampling may be approved, providing we meet city specific guidelines;
    • Interactive executions may be approved, providing we meet City specific guidelines.
