101.3 Virgin Radio Presents Annual 24-Hour Coat Drive Event in Support of The Salvation Army, Nov. 1

– Morning show personality hits snooze for 24 consecutive hours in the station’s annual winter coat drive campaign –

HALIFAX (October 31, 2018) – As temperatures begin to drop, 101.3 Virgin Radio goes “Under the Covers for Coats” in the station’s annual 24-hour coat drive blitz, held in partnership with The Salvation Army and Sleep Country Canada in a city-wide effort to keep those in need warm all winter. Beginning tomorrow, Nov. 1 at 6 a.m. AT, 101.3 Virgin Radio morning show personality Amateur Alex jumps into a comfy Sleep Country bed (Bayers Lake location) and cuddles under the covers for 24 consecutive hours.

Listeners are encouraged to drop off new or gently used winter coats to any of the following Sleep Country locations:

  • Bayers Lake – 187 Chain Lake Dr.
  • Downtown – 5508 Spring Garden Rd.
  • Dartmouth – 50 Highfield Park Dr.

101.3 Virgin Radio will check in live with Amateur Alex throughout his 24-hour public “bed-in,” for updates on the number of coats collected during his comfortable Sleep Country slumber party. All coats ranging in sizes and styles for infants to adults are welcome.

“Knowing I’m getting right back into bed makes the early wake-up call worth it, especially when we get to come together with our generous listeners to support an outstanding organization like The Salvation Army,” said Amateur Alex. “And you never know who will end up in bed with me!”

The Salvation Army operates thousands of centres in communities across North America. With a mission to feed, clothe, comfort, and care, the organization aims to rebuild broken homes and broken lives as they fight hunger and poverty in struggling communities.
