Hell, Yeah! Space Returns to Purgatory for Season 4 of WYNONNA EARP

– Season 3 of the Canadian Screen Award-winning original series is currently airing Fridays at 9 p.m. ET –

“The core elements of the premise — rogue tentacles, prickly villains, a found family and swoon-worthy romances — are familiar to aficionados of genre entertainment. But the twist it put on those basics helped WYNONNA EARP stand out and win fans.” – New York Times

“When WYNONNA EARP and KILLJOYS return for their new seasons Friday night, they’re not just bringing goofy genre television back to Space. The two shows – created by Emily Andras and Michelle Lovretta, respectively – are not-so-quietly expanding the horizons of queer representation in fantasy.” – Now Magazine

TORONTO (July 23, 2017) – As announced at San Diego Comic Con this weekend, Space has renewed supernatural sci-fi series and fan-driven phenomenon, WYNONNA EARP, for a fourth season. Created by Emily Andras, produced by Calgary-based SEVEN24 Films, and distributed globally by IDW Entertainment, WYNONNA EARP stars Canadian actor Melanie Scrofano as the titular demon hunter. With Season 3 of the western phenomenon currently airing on Space Fridays at 9 p.m. ET, production on Season 4 of the one-hour cult-hit begins in Calgary in 2019.

“We couldn’t be more excited that WYNONNA EARP is returning to fire up the Space lineup for a fourth season,” said Pat DiVittorio, Vice-President, CTV and Specialty Programming. “This ground-breaking series continues to prove itself to be a wildly imaginative, unconventional program that drives viewership and captures the hearts of critics and devoted fans alike. We’re thrilled to be on board with SEVEN24 Films, and the talented cast and crew for round four.”

WYNONNA EARP follows legendary lawman Wyatt Earp’s descendant, Wynonna (Scrofano), who inherits his mystical gun, Peacemaker. With it, Wynonna and her posse of dysfunctional allies must fight against supernatural beings and other paranormal occurrences in a raucous, whisky-soaked struggle to break her family’s demonic curse.

As described in recent profile in The New York Times, Andras (LOST GIRL) developed the “comedy-infused, character-driven drama” for television and serves as Executive Producer and Showrunner. SEVEN24’s Jordy Randall and Tom Cox serve as Executive Producers along with Ted Adams and David Ozer, as well as Todd Berger and Rick Jacobs. Brian Dennis is producer.

Season 2 of WYNONNA EARP corralled an audience increase of 30% for total viewers compared to Season 1, and was up 33% among A25-54, 46% among A18-49, and more than double for females A25-54 and A18-49. WYNONNA EARP Season 2 made Space the most-watched entertainment specialty channel during its Fridays at 10 p.m. ET timeslot among adults A18-34 and A18-49.

In the next episode of Season 3, “When You Call My Name” (Friday, July 27 at 9 p.m. ET), the demon who cursed the Earp heir reveals himself in a shocking turn of events that will leave the team forever changed.

WYNONNA EARP is produced by SEVEN24 Films in association with Space and Bell Media and distributed by IDW Entertainment. Production Executive for Bell Media is Rebecca DiPasquale. Tom Hastings is Director, Original Programming, Bell Media. Corrie Coe is Senior Vice-President, Original Programming, Bell Media. Pat DiVittorio is Vice-President, CTV and Specialty Programming; Mike Cosentino is President, Content and Programming, Bell Media. Randy Lennox is President, Bell Media.
