Winter 2018 Numeris Surveys: A Grand Total of 4 Million Listeners for Bell Media’s Montréal Stations
The new 107.3 Rouge is the radio station in Montréal with the highest increase of listeners among women (18+) in the top stations (2)
The results are in for the winter 2018 Numeris PPM survey, and once again, Bell Media remains the partner of choice for advertisers aiming to reach a wide range of consumers with complementary profiles. Through its radio stations 95.9 Virgin Radio, CHOM 97 7, CJAD 800, TSN Radio 690, ÉNERGIE 94.3 and 107.3 Rouge Bell Media reaches more than 4 million listeners each week1. In Montréal, Bell Media’s six radio stations reach more than 70% of the population3.
English Montréal Market
95.9 Virgin Radio, which recently unveiled a new logo, reached 1,940,000 listeners this winter1, with 23.5 commercial shares among adults 25-54 and 26.8 commercial shares among women 25-54 – up 4% versus Fall 20174. The station is still #1 among adults 18-34 with 32.2 commercial shares4. Furthermore, FREEWAY AND NATHASHA IN THE MORNING remains the #1 English-language morning show among adults 18-49 and 18-346.
As for CHOM 97 7, it holds on to the #1 spot among its target audience, men 25-54, with 34.5 commercial shares4. Twenty-four hours a day, each of the station’s weekday shows rank #1 among men 25-54, including MORNINGS ROCK with Terry DiMonte and AFTERNOON ROCK RIDE with Bilal Butt6. Randy Renaud’s weekday show ranks sixth among men 25-54 in the Montréal French market7. In total, CHOM 97 7 reached 1,410,000 listeners this winter1 and had 23.8 commercial shares among adults 25-544.
Looking at CJAD 800, the station once again finishes on top among all listeners 2+, with 36.7 commercial shares – up 4% since the fall season 4. In fact, CJAD 800 has seven of English Montréal’s most popular shows8 – more proof of its undisputable success. The shows hosted by Andrew Carter, Leslie Roberts, and Aaron Rand are #1 in their respective timeslots: morning drive, late morning, and afternoon drive6. Andrew Carter is also #1 in the morning among adults 25-54 and women 25-546. In total, the station draws 338,000 listeners1 and has 19.2 commercial shares among adults 25-544.
Finally, the sports station TSN Radio 690 scores 4.2 commercial shares among adults 25-54 and 5.3 shares among its target audience of men 25-544. Overall, the official English-language broadcaster of the Montréal Canadiens, Alouettes, and Impact reached 252,000 listeners this winter1.
Through its stations 95.9 Virgin Radio, CHOM 97 7, CJAD 800, and TSN Radio 690, Bell Media had a combined total of 70.7 commercial shares among adults 25-54 this winter, once again making it #1 in the English Montréal market4.
French Montréal Market
The new 107.3 Rouge registers a solid gain of 21% among women 25-54 vs. Fall 2017, reaching 20.6 commercial shares among this target group4. The rise is particularly noticeable during weekday work hours (+42%)5 and weekends (+25%)5. The station drew 15.4 commercial shares among adults 25-54 – up 18% since the fall season4. 107.3 Rouge also shows strong growth (+93%) among Montréalers 18-34, from 8.1 commercial market shares last fall to 15.7 shares this winter4.
For its part, the new ÉNERGIE 94.3 reaches 1,510,000 listeners1 and has 13.7 commercial shares among adults 25-54 versus fall, the station’s best results in the last eight surveys4. The station’s gains among this target group were especially noticeable during weekday work hours, with a rise of 13%5. ÉNERGIE 94.3 also achieves excellent results with men 25-54, with 14.5 market shares among this target group4.
