Space Introduces Canada to a World of Deadly Drama with Z NATION, Premiering September 12

TORONTO (August 26, 2014)
– This September, Space ventures into the land of the un-dead with the exclusive Canadian premiere of the post-apocalyptic zombie drama series, Z NATION, Friday, Sept. 12 at 10 p.m. ET. From The Asylum, Z NATION follows a group of ordinary citizens who are tasked with transporting across the U.S the only known human to have been bitten and not succumb to a zombie plague, in hope of finding  a cure. The 13-episode, one-hour series stars Harold Perrineau (LOST, OZ) as Lieutenant Mark Hammond, a veteran Special Ops who was looking forward to retirement when the zombie apocalypse struck; Tom Everett Scott (SOUTHLAND, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST) as Sergeant Charles (Charlie) Garnett, a retired National Guard who was teaching high school history before the plague; and DJ Qualls (Road Trip, SUPERNATURAL) as “Citizen Z,” a computer gamer and hacker whose activities caught the attention of the National Security Agency.

Z NATION is set three years after a mysterious zombie virus has gutted the country, and follows the group transporting the only known survivor of the plague from New York to California, where the last functioning viral lab waits for his blood. Although the antibodies he carries are the world’s last hope for a vaccine, he hides a dark secret that threatens them all. With humankind’s survival at stake, the group embarks on a journey of survival across three thousand miles of unexpected terrain.

In the debut episode of Z NATION, “Puppies and Kittens” (Friday, Sept. 12 at 10 p.m. ET), Lt. Hammond assembles a team of everyday heroes to transport the only known survivor of the zombie virus from New York to California in hopes of using his blood for a vaccine.

Z NATION also stars Michael Welch (The Twilight trilogy), Kellita Smith (THE BERNIE MAC SHOW), Anastasia Baranova (The Darkness II), Russell Hodgkinson (Big Fish), and Keith Allan (RISE OF THE ZOMBIES). Karl Schaefer (EUREKA) serves as Executive Producer and Showrunner.
