Saskatoon, SK (August 20, 2026) – Today, the Canadian Country Music Association® (CCMA®) announces a second wave of performers for the 2026 CCMA Awards, taking place at Sasktel Centre in Saskatoon, SK on September 19. Newly announced additions to the star-studded 2026 CCMA Awards lineup include multi award-winning 3x 2026 CCMA Award nominee Nate Haller, 6x Platinum-certified, 2026 Group or Duo of the Year nominees High Valley, 2x JUNO-Award winning multi-Platinum alt-folk band The Strumbellas, Gold-certified, 5x 2026 CCMA Award nominees Thelma &amp; James, and multiple ACM Award-winning, 5x 2026 CCMA Award nominee and this year’s top nominated female artist Tenille Townes.

TORONTO (August 19, 2026) – As CTV’s THE SOCIAL enters its 14th season this fall, the award-winning series is evolving from a weekday broadcast to a premium video podcast to better reach audiences wherever they are. Featuring the conversations, perspectives, interviews, and guests that have made THE SOCIAL a part of viewer’s daily routines, the new format continues to be available weekdays on CTV, and can also be enjoyed across Crave, iHeartRadio Canada, and THE SOCIAL’s YouTube channel.

Filmed live on THE SOCIAL’s Toronto set, without a studio audience, the reimagined format combines the strength of a podcast with the feel of a daytime series. With Jess Allen, Andrea Bain, and Cynthia Loyst, Canada’s #1 daytime talk show among all key demos continues to welcome guests and feature in-depth interviews, while discussing news, pop culture, and lifestyle topics.

TORONTO (August 13, 2026) – NEWSTALK 1010 today announced the return of veteran broadcaster Bill Carroll to Toronto radio, as he joins the station’s weekday lineup with a new program beginning Monday, Aug. 17. 

THE BILL CARROLL SHOW airs weekdays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. ET, delivering timely conversations, in-depth interviews, and analysis of the issues shaping Toronto and beyond. With decades of broadcasting experience and strong roots in the city, Carroll brings a familiar voice and local perspective, offering listeners an important platform for dialogue each weekday morning. 

In addition to launching THE BILL CARROLL SHOW on NEWSTALK 1010, Carroll continues to host his weekday morning program, THE MORNING RUSH WITH BILL CARROLL, on Ottawa’s 580 CFRA.

Host Shan Boodram had a simple yet poignant observation about the sexy singles who chose to participate in TEMPTATIONS UNDER THE SUN: CYPRUS.

“If you don't want to play games, then it's not really the show to be on,” said Boodram, summing it up succinctly.

An English spinoff of a hit Québec series, TEMPTATIONS UNDER THE SUN: CYPRUS is a Crave Original that premieres on Friday, Aug. 7. Guided by Boodram, who is a renowned sexologist, intimacy expert, and host of the “Lovers By Shan” podcast (available on iHeartRadio.com and the iHeartRadio Canada app), paired-up contestants face steamy challenges, wild parties, surprise arrivals, and heart-wrenching eliminations, all while earning valuable points that unlock major advantages.

The boldest and most magnetic duo will win $50,000 and be crowned “Canada’s Most Seductive Couple.” But that’s a non-binding title, which is one of the things Boodram appreciates most.

“I love the fact that the show didn't ask people to be inauthentic,” Boodram said. “Look, you're in your 20s, we know what it is, you want to explore. You're not looking for the person you want to marry right now. Statistically, we know that the age people get married is getting later and later, as people make other important life decisions before they decide who their life partner is. And so, I think that the show being mindful of that is huge progress, and it does alleviate a lot of the unrealistic expectations that we sometimes put on reality stars.”

She continued, “you wouldn’t want to force people to be in relationships that are genuinely not fulfilling or compatible. It's a very big difference between having a fiery, beautiful connection with somebody in a controlled environment that's designed to bring out the most flirty side of yourself, versus in the real world, where we have real stress. So I love the fact that this show was like, ‘we're here for a good time, not a long time.’ I'm sure some of the couples have kept in touch, and if they did, I'd be thrilled to hear their stories. But there was no pressure to do that. It was merely, be brave, be fearless, be bold, rejection's a part of it, have fun.”

Of course, for viewers, the fun of watching a series such as TEMPTATIONS UNDER THE SUN: CYPRUS is the opportunity to live vicariously.

“These people are extraordinary physical specimens, right?” Boodram said. “There’s not a hair or a body part out of place. They're just interesting to look at, in the same way that we look at athletes. And let's be clear about something: it is a skill to be able to put yourself out there, and try to do the most vulnerable thing in the world in front of millions of people.”

Boodram added that she spent some time studying “pickup artistry,” with a pickup coach, who had a very interesting perspective to share with her.

“He told me that he works with all kinds of people: Navy SEALs, police officers, people who travel to space, people who put their bodies on the line every day, in really extreme ways,” Boodram recalled. “And yet, almost all of them say, ‘I would rather do something incredibly dangerous than walk up to someone who I think is attractive, and ask them if they think I’m attractive.’ So there’s a lot of pressure on our participants, especially when viewers are hyper-analyzing every move they make, and looking for certain outcomes. So I commend the young people who put themselves forward, and everybody on the show. I really adored them.”

Finally, Boodram claims in one of the episodes of TEMPTATIONS UNDER THE SUN: CYPRUS that there is a health benefit to kissing. Was that merely showmanship, or is it true?

“Of course it’s true, bare minimum from a nervous-system reset,” she insisted. “You can go ahead and kiss your hand right now to test it out. It reassures you that there is safety around. August 6 – HBO Original MONSTERS OF GOD *Docuseries Premiere* 

 	Filmmaker Eric Goode follows his first love – reptiles – into the dark and gonzo underworld of exotic animal smuggling. In this global network, everyone is chasing the ultimate prize, whether it be owning the rarest of species, claiming the biggest fortunes, or taking down the most elusive criminals. As he digs deeper into the billion-dollar criminal enterprise fueled by obsession for these creatures, Goode uncovers a labyrinth of outlaw traffickers, bombastic collectors, and the dogged law enforcement agents on their tails. The five-part documentary series from Goode Films, A24, and Central Pictures, premieres Thursday, August 6 at 9 p.m. ET with new episodes streaming Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET. 

 

August 7 – Crave Original TEMPATIONS UNDER THE SUN: CYPRUS *Series Premiere*

August 8 – Crave Original ANNA PIGEON *Series Premiere* 

 	From director Lea Thompson (Back to the Future) and Canadian showrunner Morwyn Brebner (SAVING HOPE) and based on the New York Times best-selling Anna Pigeon mystery series by Nevada Barr, the mystery series follows Anna Pigeon (Tracy Spiridakos), a former urbanite who became a park ranger after a devastating loss changed the trajectory of her life forever. While Anna tries to outrun her demons, her focus turns to solving crimes that have taken place within national park grounds, no matter who or what gets in her way. The 10-episode suspenseful new crime drama airs Fridays at 10 p.m. ET on USA Network, and streams Saturdays on Crave at 6 a.m. ET, beginning August 8.
 

August 10 – Crave Original MODERN WHORE *Documentary* *Canadian Title* 

 	The Crave Original documentary MODERN WHORE, which made its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2025 and took home two Canadian Screen Awards in 2026, explores identity, the stigma surrounding female pleasure, and the day-to-day realities of being an escort and exotic dancer. Executive produced by Sean Baker (ANORA) and directed by Nicole Bazuin, the film stars Toronto-based writer Andrea Werhun in an adaptation of her 2018 memoir of the same name.

TORONTO (Tuesday, August 4, 2026) – Bell Media extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Lloyd Robertson, who passed away today at the age of 92. Robertson was a trusted and beloved broadcaster with CTV News for 35 years, becoming Chief Anchor and Senior Editor of CTV NATIONAL NEWS in 1984.

“Lloyd left an indelible mark on both CTV News and Canadian journalism,” said Richard Gray, VP News, Bell Media. “Throughout his illustrious career, he forged a genuine bond with viewers, becoming a reassuring voice while reporting on some of the biggest events happening across Canada and around the world. To those who worked alongside him, Lloyd was a valued mentor and friend. His enduring legacy continues through the standards and values he established at CTV News, and he will be deeply missed by all.”

A dependable daily presence for Canadians, Robertson was known for his signature sign-off at the end of each broadcast: “And that’s the kind of day it’s been.” One of the most accomplished journalists in North America, Robertson was a broadcaster for more than 60 years.

Robertson joined CTV in 1976 anchoring CTV NATIONAL NEWS until he signed off in 2011. He then co-hosted W5 for CTV News from 2011 to 2016. During his career, Robertson guided Canadians through some of the most significant events in history, including 9/11, the Quebec Referendum, 14 Canadian elections and numerous U.S. elections, the Gulf War, budget specials, political and economic summits, the 50th anniversary of D-Day, nine Olympic Games, royal weddings, Expo ‘86, openings of Parliament, state funerals, papal visits, and the Terry Fox Run.

In 1998, he became a Member of the Order of Canada, and in 2007 he was the first journalist inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame.

Robertson began his broadcasting career in 1952 at CJCS radio in his hometown of Stratford, ON and then joined CJOY in Guelph in 1953. After moving into television in 1954 with CBC in Windsor, Robertson spent four years (1956-'60) in Winnipeg and two years in Ottawa (1960-'62). He went on to anchor CBC's national news from 1970 to 1976 before joining CTV News.
