HALIFAX (November 1, 2013) – As the days get colder, 101.3 THE BOUNCE goes “Under the Covers for Coats,” a 24-hour charitable blitz held in partnership with The Salvation Army and Sleep Country Canada to collect as many coats as possible to help those in need stay warm this winter. Starting Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013 at 8 a.m., morning personality Amateur Alex from the THE MORNING BOUNCE with Turk and Ruby, is crawling under the covers of a comfy Sleep Country bed (5415 Spring Garden Road) for 24 consecutive hours. Listeners are encouraged to pay a visit to the station’s resident Rip Van Winkle – or any Sleep Country location across the city – and drop off new or gently used winter coats. All proceeds from the coat drive will be donated to The Salvation Army.
101.3 THE BOUNCE will check in with Amateur Alex throughout his 24-hour very public “bed-in,” for updates on coats collected during his snuggly Sleep Country stay. Coats for infants to adults are welcome. Listeners can also register online at 1013TheBounce.com for a free coat pickup.
“Under the Covers for Coats gives THE BOUNCE an opportunity to warm up the community and unite with our generous listeners in support of a good cause,” said Amateur Alex. “And hanging out in a comfy bed for an entire day to help those in need? Pinch me now – this is definitely a dream assignment!”
The Salvation Army operates thousands of centres in communities across North America. With a mission to feed, clothe, comfort, and care, the organization aims to rebuild broken homes and broken lives as they fight hunger and poverty in struggling communities.
