BARRIE (April 16, 2019) – 104.1 The DOCK and KICX 106 are proud to host the 11th annual Radio for Cardiology Radiothon, broadcasting live on location from Barrie’s Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) on May 9 and 10 beginning at 5:30 a.m. ET. The stations’ fundraising efforts will support the $1 million pledge to establish an essential advanced cardiac care unit at RVH. Live coverage is also available via live stream on the iHeartRadio Canada app.
“We are roughly $60,000 shy of our $1 million goal, and I’m feeling hopeful this year can get us there!” said Mora Austin, General Manager, 104.1 The DOCK and KICX 106. “Our teams at KICX and The Dock are honoured to have such a dedicated family of listeners, community groups, advertisers, and partners who come together to support this extremely important cause. Bringing advanced cardiac care closer to home is a priority for our radio stations and surrounding communities.”
KICX 106 and 104.1 The DOCK will broadcast live from the main lobby at RVH over the two-day radiothon. As in previous years, both stations will continue airing regularly scheduled music programming, news, weather, sports, and traffic information, with a strong added focus on RVH’s cardiac care unit and the Radio for Cardiology (R4C) campaign. Listeners will hear live interviews and stories from the hospital’s physicians, patients, and families. Listeners can call 705-720-1991 to make a pledge, or donate online at 1041TheDOCK.com and KICX106.com.
Prior to RVH opening an advanced cardiac centre, North Simcoe Muskoka was the only region in Ontario without advanced or emergency cardiac services. As a result, more than 3,500 patients had to travel to centres outside the region for critical treatment every year. The Radio for Cardiology (R4C) campaign works toward the continued development of an advanced cardiac care program to provide essential local services to at-risk cardiac patients.
