A Fairy Tale Come True: 437,000 Viewers Tune in to SPACE’s Season 5 Premiere of MERLIN

Toronto (January 7, 2013) – SPACE whipped up a magical brew last Saturday night when the Season 5 premiere of MERLIN bewitched an average of 437,000 total viewers. The first episode of MERLIN’s final season made SPACE the #1 specialty network in its timeslot for A18-49, A25-54 and total viewers, reaching 736,000 viewers overall. Leading into the season premiere, SPACE’s four-day MERLIN-A-THON, part of THE 12 DAYS OF SPACE-MAS, reached an astonishing 3.2 million total viewers. In the Season 5 premiere, “Arthur’s Bane (Part 1),” men start disappearing into the frozen territories of the north, and in search of answers King Arthur and his Knights must undertake a dangerous mission to the unknown. In “Arthur’s Bane (Part 2),” airing this Saturday, Jan. 12 at 8 p.m. ET, Merlin fears that the ancient prophecies about Mordred might come true as even he is not able to sway from his chosen path. Only one thing seems certain in such bleak and transient wilderness: the great trial for Albion has finally begun.

 Season 5 of MERLIN stars Colin Morgan (DOCTOR WHO) as the title character, along with Bradley James (DIS/CONNECTED) as Arthur, Terence Maynard (SPY) as Helios, Katie McGrath (THE QUEEN) as Morgana, and Angel Coulby (THE VISIT) as Gwen. The series also stars Anthony Head (BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER) as Uther, Richard Wilson (ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE) as Gaius, and John Hurt (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2) as the voice of the Great Dragon.
