TORONTO (October 2, 2014) – Small business gets personal and primetime with the launch of BNN’s BARGAIN BROTHERS. The all-new original Canadian series, premiering Tuesday, October 21 at 7 p.m. ET during SMALL BUSINESS WEEK, goes behind the wheel at Ride Time – a third generation, family-run, used-car dealership in Winnipeg. The six-episode, half-hour, small business reality series follows the MacIver family as they try to keep the family together and the business thriving among everyday antics. This light-hearted, comedic take on family business delivers both laughs and a real-life glimpse of the challenges and opportunities small business owners routinely face.

Determined to make Ride Time the most successful used-car operation in North America, brothers Doug Jr. and Andrew MacIver exhibit the passion and drive required to elevate the world of second-hand car sales by delivering first-rate customer service. Along with a zany staff comprised of family members and friends, the MacIver’s are on a mission to carry on the legacy left by the family’s patriarch, Doug Sr., while simultaneously working to transform the reputation of used-car dealers everywhere.

“Not only does the series go beyond the stereotypes of haggling and tire-kicking associated with used-car sales, BARGAIN BROTHERS offers an insightful glimpse into the mechanics of running a successful small business,” said Grant Ellis, General Manager, BNN. “As part of our week-long celebration of Canada’s entrepreneurs, the launch of BARGAIN BROTHERS will help show that BNN cares about all of our country’s great business stories, not just ones involving TSX-listed companies.”

Highlights from episodes 1-3 of BARGAIN BROTHERS include:

Tuesday, October 21 at 7 p.m. ET

Andrew and Doug try to boost sales at the dealership with a new commercial. To test it out, president of Ride Time and Andrew and Doug’s mom, Evelyn asks the boys to conduct a focus group with people who DON’T work for Ride Time.

BARGAIN BROTHERS – “Winter Wonderland?”

Tuesday, October 28 at 7 p.m. ET

It’s winter in Winnipeg and the family must work even harder to keep the cars running. Doug’s wife Meagan is homesick for Louisiana, and he tries to cheer her up by taking her on a romantic “date” to the car wash.

BARGAIN BROTHERS – “Leave a Message”

Tuesday, November 4 at 7 p.m. ET

There’s a backlog of cars waiting to be serviced, and to make matters worse, the company phones are down. Andrew is hoping a visit from his girlfriend will alleviate some of his stress - as long as Doug will give him time off.
