WINDSOR (April 5, 2024) Lisa Williams, a longtime trusted voice of AM800 Windsor’s THE MORNING DRIVE with Mike & Lisa, announced her retirement today on the program. The announcement comes following a 38-year career in the broadcast industry. Williams’ final broadcast as morning show co-host is Friday, May 31. Co-hosting the #1 morning show in Windsor-Essex, Williams has been a fixture in the community for decades, and her dedication to it has been an inspiration to many. “It’s been an honour and a privilege to have connected with our morning listeners for almost four decades. My role on THE MORNING DRIVE has always been a labour of love, but I’ve decided to make this change because there are many more things I want to do,” said Williams. “I’m grateful for having the opportunity to work alongside so many remarkable and talented people who have left a mark on my heart. Our show has always been about the listeners. It has been a shared experience, a daily ritual, and a platform for connection as the day begins. The support of our incredible audience has made THE MORNING DRIVE not just a radio show, but a community.” “For so many years, Lisa has been an exceptional teammate and a fan-favourite voice on AM800, and we bid her the fondest farewell,” said Jennifer McLellan, General Manager, Radio and TV – Southwestern Ontario, Bell Media. “Lisa’s contributions have been instrumental in shaping the success of AM800, and we are grateful for her unwavering commitment to the station. The whole team will miss Lisa as she embarks on this new chapter, and we wish her the greatest happiness and fulfillment in retirement.” Williams’ passion for sharing stories affecting the local community has resonated with listeners and played a pivotal role in supporting AM800 as the most dependable source of information for the Windsor-Essex region. “A role model on and off the microphone, Lisa is considered a friend to so many listeners who choose to spend their mornings with her and Mike,” said Melissa Schultz, Program Director, AM800 Windsor. “She is a leader in Windsor-Essex, lending her voice to many charitable causes and local organizations. A dependable voice in our community each morning for almost four decades, Lisa has always kept listeners informed, no matter how challenging the story. Although we are sad to say goodbye, we want to thank Lisa for her loyalty and dedication to our team and our community.” “This truly is the end of an era! It’s been a genuine honour to work alongside Lisa for more than 20 years,” said Mike Kakuk, Co-Host, AM800’s THE MORNING DRIVE. “I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the pleasure of working with someone whom I respect, admire, and consider a dear friend. It will be strange walking into the studio without Lisa, but I wish her nothing but the best as she opens this next chapter.” After a distinguished career, Williams is looking forward to more time with family, traveling, and continuing her involvement in local causes and community events. THE MORNING DRIVE airs weekday mornings from 5 – 9 a.m. ET on AM800 in the Windsor-Essex region, and for listeners across Canada via audio live stream on iHeartRadio.ca and the iHeartRadio Canada app. iHeartRadio Canada stations are also connected through Alexa, Siri, and Google Home smart speakers.
