TORONTO (June 5, 2013) – Much fans should brace themselves because Canada’s biggest street party just got bigger! Announced today on NEW.MUSIC.LIVE., another exciting batch of swoon-worthy performers and presenters have been added to the 2013 MUCHMUSIC VIDEO AWARDS. The lineup includes an appearance by mega-star Taylor Swift, Aussie teen heartthrob Cody Simpson, punk rockers Billy Talent, teenage singing sensation Austin Mahone, and more. Adding to the list of hot performers is world-renowned electronic dance music producer Armin van Buuren, as he takes to the MMVAs stage for the very first time, along with Trevor Guthrie. MMVA darlings Marianas Trench and Down With Webster also return to deliver explosive performances to their dedicated and loving fans. Armin van Buuren featuring Trevor Guthrie
World-renowned Dutch Trance music producer and Armin van Buuren makes his MMVA debut with Canadian solo artist Trevor Guthrie. As one of the world’s top-ranking DJs, he’s topped the charts of DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJs fan poll a record of 5 times, including winning 4 consecutive years between 2007–2010 and again in 2012. Since 2001, van Buuren has hosted a weekly radio show called A State of Trance, which boasts more than 20 million weekly listeners in 52 countries, making it one of the most listened-to radio shows in the world. His 2008 studio album, Imagine, entered the Dutch album chart at No. 1, a first for a dance music artist in Dutch music history.
Down With Webster
Timbaland has called them “the illest group I’ve ever seen live,” but fans have been Down With Webster since the group formed in 1998 at their junior high in Toronto’s Beach community. The release of Time To Win Vol.1 showed the world just how “dope” they are with both “Rich Girl$” and “Your Man” climbing the Canadian charts. Their 2011 hit single “Whoa Is Me” went certified platinum in Canada. The band has toured North America relentlessly, sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in music today, including 3Oh!3 and the Black Eyed Peas. This is Down With Webster’s third MMVA performance.
Marianas Trench
Formed in Vancouver in 2001, JUNO Award-nominated rock/pop band Marianas Trench is no stranger to the MMVAs, lighting up the stage in 2009, 2010, and in 2012. With a whopping six nominations for the 2013 MMVAs, the band is undoubtedly dominating this year’s awards show and for good reason. The band’s third studio album Ever After, a single 54 minute track, reached gold status in the first week of release resulting so far in two #1 music videos for “Haven’t Had Enough” and “Fallout” which have also surpassed platinum single sale status in Canada. From their impressive concept albums to explosive music videos, the guys in Marianas Trench never fail to impress their fans.
