TORONTO (January 14, 2014) – Bell Media is proud to announce it has supported 25 of the feature films and feature documentaries nominated for the 2014 Canadian Screen Awards, for a total of 82 nominations. As was announced yesterday by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, Denis Villeneuve’s Bell Media-supported drama Enemy garnered 10 nominations – the most of any film – including nominations for Achievement in Directing for Villeneuve, Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for Jake Gyllenhall, and Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for Sara Gadon.

On the heels of the announcement, The Movie Network confirmed today that the one-hour interview special IN STUDIO returns for a third installment, taped at Toronto’s Winter Garden Theatre on March 9 during Canadian Screen Week. Directed by acclaimed documentary filmmaker Barry Avrich. IN STUDIO is a collection of in-depth interviews with leading Canadian talent. IN STUDIO is slated to air on The Movie Network this summer.

“Through our pay television networks and national funding organizations, we support Canadian feature films in both official languages through all levels of development, right through to their broadcasts on The Movie Network and Super Écran,” said Corrie Coe, Senior Vice-President, Independent Production, Bell Media. “It is exciting to see so many of these supported projects recognized by the Academy and we extend our heartfelt congratulations to all of the nominees.”

Through its English and French pay television services, The Movie Network and Super Écran, and its national funding organizations the Harold Greenberg Fund and Fonds Harold Greenberg, Bell Media supports Canadian feature film financing and development through story optioning, script development, equity investment, pre-licensing, and acquisitions.
