Bell Media’s The Harold Greenberg Fund Announces Latest Recipients of the Shorts-to-Features Program

– Four up-and-coming filmmaking teams from across the country receive a total of $148,000 in production and development funds –
TORONTO (March 14, 2019) – Bell Media’s The Harold Greenberg Fund, in partnership with Canada’s premium streaming service Crave, announced today the recipients of The Harold Greenberg Fund’s Shorts-to-Features Program. The unique funding program is designed to support up-and-coming Canadian filmmaking talent, and to provide a stepping stone to further develop their short films into full-length features.
Four teams of emerging filmmakers will each receive $32,000 towards the production of their short film projects, designed to be calling cards for future long-form features. In addition, The Harold Greenberg Fund commits $5,000 for the development of the feature film version of the recipient’s project. This year’s chosen short films are: Bookworm from writer/director Kevin Dempster and producer Mica Daniels; Esequibo Rapture from writer/director Karen Chapman and producer Leslie Norville; H.appiness from director Luvia Petersen, writer Huelah Lander, and producer Amanda Konkin; and Teething from writer/director Glen Matthews and producer Luke Humphrey.

These latest selections come on the heels of a Canadian Screen Awards nomination for Mahalia Melts in the Rain, a 2018 recipient of the Shorts-to-Features Program, which is nominated for “Best Live Action Short Film.”
