

Bell Media’s Entertainment Specialties Announce Acquisition of New Sensational Series for 2014/15 Lineup

TORONTO (June 13, 2014) – Bell Media’s BravoFACT (Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent) announced today the seven award recipients from the June 12 jury meeting. Selected from 92 submitted applications, a total of $250,000 was awarded to Canadian filmmakers for the production of short films.
Since its inception in 1995, BravoFACT-supported films have enjoyed success both at home and abroad. Most recently, three BravoFACT-funded shorts, Stage to Screen: The Archivist, Parachute, and Josef & Aimee, were chosen to screen at Telefilm’s market corner during the Cannes Film Festival. Five BravoFACT-funded shorts also recently screened in competition at the Yorkton Film Festival including Method, The Golden Ticket, When It Is Dark, Reveille, and A Mile In These Hooves, which won the award for Best Comedy (Fiction). BravoFACT-funded-short Prairie Dogs also recently received the Best Homegrown Film Award at the Lakeshorts International Film Festival. As well, recent award nominations for BravoFACT-funded shorts include Role Play at The Writers Guild of Canada Awards, and Fade Out and Floodplain at the Leo Awards, with the latter two receiving a total of nine nominations.
