British Columbians Elect CTV Vancouver as Most-Watched Municipal Election Coverage

VANCOUVER (October 22, 2018) – On Saturday night, viewers across B.C. made CTV Vancouver their #1 choice for live coverage of the 2018 municipal election. From 7 p.m. – 11:35 p.m. PT, CTV Vancouver’s ELECTION 2018 special attracted a 4.9 rating among total viewers, and a 4.2 rating among viewers in the key A25-54 demographic. During the head-to-head broadcast from 10-11 p.m. PT, CTV Vancouver delivered more than three times the audience of its closest competitor.
CTV Vancouver was the first news organization to declare an election win for both Kennedy Stewart as mayor of Vancouver (11:12 p.m. PT) as well as Doug McCallum as mayor of Surrey (9:35 p.m. PT).
Led by CTV Vancouver anchors Mi-Jung Lee and Scott Roberts, the live election special was watched by nearly 1 million unique viewers. Audiences peaked at 335,000 viewers at 10:32 p.m. PT, in the lead-up to Stewart being declared the 40th mayor of Vancouver.
