CANADA AM’s Jeff Hutcheson Announces Retirement and Final Remote Tour

TORONTO (May 6, 2016) – After 40 years in broadcasting, veteran sports and weather anchor Jeff Hutcheson announced this morning on-air that he will bring his 18 years at CANADA AM to a close, signing off one last time early this summer. Waking up with viewers for nearly two decades, Hutcheson is known for bringing Canadians together, broadcasting from nearly 400 locations across Canada and around the world. Beloved from coast to coast to coast, Hutcheson hits the road for one last remote broadcast tour before his final turn at the CANADA AM desk. “I feel truly honoured to have had this incredible journey and to be welcomed into viewers homes everyday across my four decades of broadcasting,” said Jeff Hutcheson. “CANADA AM has given me the experience of a lifetime, working on a team that sets the bar of professionalism and journalism in this industry. Showcasing hotspots, talking to locals, and delivering his regular weather updates live on location, Jeff kicks off the tour in Niagara-on-the-Lake before heading eastward to continue his journey and series of live broadcasts from Quidi Vidi, NL, a beach in his home province of Prince Edward Island, and from Lunenburg, NS. Dubbed Canada’s king of the remote broadcast, Hutcheson developed a following and endeared himself to viewers throughout the country and from many destinations around the world including France, England, Ireland, and Australia. Viewers will remember Hutcheson’s countless great moments, from kite skiing on Great Slave Lake in Yellowknife and his broadcast from the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games, to his remote from the Toronto Blue Jays Spring Training in Dunedin, Florida.
