Over the past decade, Brett Kissel has spent more time in his tour bus than he has at home, touring every province and territory and headlining some of the biggest country music festivals. This summer was set to look different for Kissel, but despite the COVID-19 induced isolation, he found a way for fans to gather safely – at drive-in shows. The first Canadian artist to mount a drive-in concert tour, Kissel’s experience was captured in the all-new documentary BRETT KISSEL LIVE AT THE DRIVE-IN, debuting Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV2. The one-hour documentary takes fans behind the scenes as the multiple JUNO and CCMA Award-winner brings his vision to life from the video calls with his crew, to socially distanced rehearsals, to being back on a stage for the first show in Edmonton, separated from his band with plexi-glass partitions. In total, Kissel performed 24 socially distant shows over the summer in front of more than 30,000 country music fans, helping raise more than $250,000 for various local charities and food banks. The show displays Kissel’s undeniable talent, backed by strong production value and provides country fans with a place to be while supporting several worthy causes. With eight sold-out shows over two days, this was the beginning of the return of live music in Canada. This is the story about how music brought everyone together.
