

TSN Returns as Official Broadcast Partner of the Toronto Rock

TORONTO (January 7, 2013) – When news of a tentative agreement between the NHL and NHLPA broke early Sunday morning, Canadians turned to TSN for comprehensive multi-platform coverage of the biggest NHL story of the year.
Overall, nearly 2.3 million unique Canadians watched some part of the network’s NHL ON TSN GAME ON SPECIAL throughout the day on Sunday.
In the morning, TSN’s five-and-a-half hour (7 a.m.-12:30 p.m. ET) NHL ON TSN GAME ON SPECIAL delivered an average audience of 138,000 viewers – with audience levels peaking at 322,000 viewers. Coverage was helmed by TSN’s James Duthie and featured Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie, analysts Mike Johnson, Darren Pang and Jamie McLennan, and THAT’S HOCKEY 2NITE host Steve Kouleas in studio, along with Hockey Insiders Darren Dreger and Pierre LeBrun, analyst Aaron Ward, and reporter Ryan Rishaug and John Lu live on location from New York City.
Online, TSN Digital platforms recorded 10 million page views, marking the highest number of page views in the last six months. TSN.ca also delivered 650,000 video views – the most since TRADECENTRE ’12 last February.
On Twitter, #TSN was among the top trending topics in Canada on Sunday as the network’s best-in-class hockey experts and Insiders were breaking news on the NHL and NHLPA’s new 10-year collective bargaining agreement.
TSN’s coverage of the end of the NHL Lockout continues this week on SPORTSCENTRE, expanded broadcasts of THAT’S HOCKEY, and THAT’S HOCKEY 2NITE. Fans can also listen to TSN Radio and TEAM Radio stations across the country for news and analysis on the new CBA.
