Toronto, June 5, 2013 — Astral Out-of-Home, a leader in the Canadian out-of-home advertising industry and subsidiary of Astral Media Inc. (TSX: ACM.A ACM.B), is proud to reveal the winners of the Carte Blanche for Creatives contest in the Vancouver market: Alex Roberts and Cameron Spires from Station X for their “Days like these” concept for Mercedes-Benz Canada.
The winning piece was announced last night at a cocktail reception held at The Imperial, located in Vancouver's urban core. Members of the jury and the creative community from the Vancouver area had a chance to view firsthand the creativity of the different pieces submitted.
For the first time in Carte Blanche's history, a jury, composed of a creative team members from each participating agency, got to vote to select the winning piece. The shortlisted pieces had been previously voted for by members of the creative community on carteblancheforcreatives.ca.
The winning team of creatives will travel to France to attend the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. As well, the client featured in the winning piece will benefit from a campaign across the Astral Out-of-Home network in the Metro Vancouver area. Additionally, and in order to immortalize their win, the two creatives received seven rectangular pieces of metal to create their own original trophy!
“Once again this year, the Carte Blanche contest brilliantly showcased local talent by giving free rein to creatives wanting to push the limits of creativity in out-of-home advertising”, said Nathalie Doré, Vice President, Marketing and Media Creativity, Astral Out-of-Home. “We congratulate the winners and thank all of the participants who created incredible works of art.”
“As a first for the Vancouver market, the level of enthusiasm shown by the agencies and creatives towards the contest was greater than expected”, stated Lesley Conway, Executive Vice President, Sales English Canada, Astral Out-of-Home. “With the continuous growth in the participation rate in all markets, we are convinced of the relevance and need of this initiative and remain committed to reaching more and more participants from coast-to-coast.”
Launched in March, the Carte Blanche for Creatives contest set the record of the highest number of pieces ever submitted in each of the Toronto and Montreal markets. The jury named respectively Luc Du Sault and Vincent Bernard from lg2 for their “Honda électrique” concept, and David Glen and Dhaval Bhatt from john st. for their “Kobo Glo” concept, winners of the Montreal and Toronto markets.
