CFRA Morning Host Steve Madely Retires

OTTAWA (November 16, 2015) – CFRA veteran and long-time host of MADELY IN THE MORNING, Steve Madely, announced this morning during his live broadcast that he will be retiring from broadcasting. Marking the end of a 21-year run on the program, Madely also announced this morning that today will be his final day in the Host seat.   “Steve is a first-class broadcaster who, for more than two decades, has demonstrated a tireless commitment to Ottawa and ensuring local resident start the day informed and knowledgeable about what’s going on in their community,” said Peter Angione, Director, News and Information Programming for Bell Media Ottawa. “We thank him for his years of dedicated service, and wish him the very best as he enters a new phase of life.”   Winner of the RTDNA national award for Excellence in Reporting and recently named among the Top 25 People in the Capital for 2014, Madely is a decorated broadcaster with a wealth of journalistic experience put to work on behalf of his listeners. After many years working in radio and television in various markets, Madely settled in Ottawa in 1972, and has been hosting the top-rated CFRA breakfast program MADELY IN THE MORNING since 1994.   “It’s hard to imagine CFRA starting the day without Steve Madely as the morning show host,” said Richard Gray, Vice-President and General Manager, Radio and TV, Ottawa and Pembroke. “His passion for community has been a constant in people’s lives locally, for what seems like almost forever. Steve will definitely be greatly missed.”   An announcement about a permanent replacement will be made in the coming days.
