CHOM 97 7 Announces Host Tootall’s Retirement, September 29
— July 5, 2017
MONTRÉAL (July 5, 2017) – After rocking our city for 40 years on CHOM 97 7, the legendary reference for rock in Montréal, Tootall, has decided to sign off from the broadcast booth for the final time on September 29.
A true ambassador of emerging Canadian talent, Tootall was the host of MADE IN CANADA for many years, one of the only commercial radio shows dedicated to profiling and exposing homegrown artists. When Rush, The Tea Party, Tom Cochrane, Sam Roberts, The Box, Triumph, Moist, April Wine, Gino Vannelli, Frank Marino, and more came to Montréal, they all would make the pilgrimage to CHOM studios to speak with Tootall.
The annual CHOM L’ESPRIT contest Tootall spearheaded gave exposure and airtime to the artists developing in Montréal’s music scene. He contributed to launching the careers of many local bands, such as Slaves on Dope. Tootall is currently hosting from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring his signature show MADE TO ORDER from noon to 1pm.
“40 years into the game and his passion for music and his curiosity about new sounds, styles, and bands remain unmatched,” declared Picard, Music Director, CHOM 97 7.
“Tootall is the last active announcer that got his start in CHOM’s original home of rock n’ roll, the legendary brownstone at 1355 Greene Avenue,” said Martin Spalding, Vice President and General Manager, Local Radio and Television, Bell Media-Québec. “His well-deserved retirement marks the end of an incredible career; his voice, knowledge and influence will be missed”
CHOM will release details in the coming weeks as to how Tootall’s departure will be celebrated.
