Bold new Captain Peter Hammarstedt helms The Bob Barker for Operation Relentless during the three-hour WHALE WARS broadcast event, March 22 on Animal Planet.

WHALE WARS goes deep inside the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society to document “Operation Relentless”, the latest of the organization’s perilous anti-whaling campaigns in a three-hour special broadcast event premiering Sunday, March 22 at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT on Animal Planet. Following a ruling from the United States Court of Appeals, Watson was forced to hand the mission over to youthful seafaring veteran Peter Hammarstedt. The ruling has Watson’s hands tied as it imposes strict limits on how he and his U.S. Sea Shepherd associates can interact with Japanese whaling activities. **Media Note** Photography for WHALES WARS available online here. Last season, the United States Court of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit forced Watson to relinquish command of his fleet. The court acted while Watson was at sea – leaving the captain aboard the Steve Irwin vessel, observing from the sidelines. Hammarstedt proved himself a worthy successor and immediately took on the role as a fearless and driven leader. As the new Captain’s tensions with the whalers escalate, this latest campaign promises to be the most aggressive and dangerous the Sea Shepherds have ever faced.About Animal Planet
