TORONTO (February 25, 2021) – CP24, Toronto’s source for breaking news, announced today the launch of its all-new primetime program CP24 TONIGHT, premiering Monday, March 1 at 7 p.m. ET on CP24. Hosted by Reshmi Nair and Nick Dixon, CP24 TONIGHT goes beyond the headlines and features expert analysis, live reports from communities across the GTA, and interviews with the top newsmakers of the day. Airing weeknights from 7-9 p.m. ET, CP24 TONIGHT tackles the issues that affect Torontonians most, and delivers comprehensive coverage of the top national and world news stories. “With two veteran journalists at the helm in Reshmi Nair and Nick Dixon, CP24 TONIGHT delivers GTA viewers with even more of what they expect from CP24 – trusted coverage of the stories that matter most,” said Michael Melling, General Manager, CP24. “We look forward to launching this compelling new weeknight program in primetime, so our viewers can start and end their day with CP24.” “More than ever, we need a place to dissect and discuss the news of the day – here in the GTA and beyond,” said Nair. “We’re going to tackle the pressing issues that have come to light during the global pandemic by digging in deep with newsmakers and holding panel discussions with voices that deserve to be elevated and heard. CP24 TONIGHT is committed to bringing you context and a variety of perspectives to the stories that matter to you and your family.” “Getting a chance to build on the strength of CP24 and give our viewers a closer look at the news and newsmakers of the day is such an incredible opportunity,” said Dixon. “At a time when people want to know more about what’s happening in their world, and to hear from the people that shape it, I’m confident CP24 TONIGHT will connect with viewers and satisfy their need to know and understand.” Reshmi Nair With more than 15 years of experience in journalism, Reshmi Nair has covered breaking news stories as a reporter for local newscasts and radio stations with both CTV News and CBC News, before joining CP24 as an anchor in 2020. Nair began her broadcasting career in British Columbia with Mountain FM. She continued as a radio reporter with News1130, winning an Edward R. Murrow Award for Spot News Coverage of an oil pipeline rupture in Burnaby, B.C. She later moved to television with CTV News then CBC News, returning to CTV in 2020 to host CTV NewsNight before ultimately joining CP24 last fall. Nair is proud to call Toronto home. Nick Dixon A veteran news anchor and reporter, Nick Dixon has spent two decades covering the GTA’s top stories of the day.
