March madness hits Crave this month with a blockbuster slate of new programming from HBO and SHOWTIME®, all-new Hollywood-hit movies, plus all-new series and classic movies from STARZ which becomes available directly to Canadians as an add-on to Crave beginning the week of March 4. On deck for March: the highly anticipated final season of HBO’s VEEP, starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus in her six-time Emmy®-winning role; Season 2 of HBO’s award-winning comedy series BARRY starring Bill Hader and Henry Winkler; headline-making HBO documentaries LEAVING NEVERLAND, THE INVENTOR: OUT FOR BLOOD IN SILICON VALLEY, and THE CASE AGAINST ADNAN SYED; Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis return with Season 4 of SHOWTIME’s hit drama BILLIONS; from STARZ, the new comedy series from iconic indie filmmakers Gregg Araki and Steven Soderbergh NOW APOCALYPSE premieres; the Crave original documentary THE WOMAN WHO LOVES GIRAFFES debuts; and all-new film premieres include Skyscraper, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and The Meg.
  • HBO’s Emmy®-winning comedy series VEEP returns for its seven-episode, seventh and final season on Sunday, March 31. The series stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus as former vice president – and president – Selina Meyer as she hits the campaign trail to try and get back into the Oval Office. The ensemble cast also includes: Tony Hale as Gary, Meyer’s devoted body-man; Anna Chlumsky as Amy, her right hand; Matt Walsh as Mike, her former spokesperson; Reid Scott as the ultra-ambitious Dan; Timothy C. Simons as Jonah Ryan, a former hanger-on turned congressman; Kevin Dunn as Ben, her campaign manager; Gary Cole as analyst Kent; Sam Richardson as staffer Richard; and Sarah Sutherland as her daughter Catherine.
  • After taking home three Emmy Awards in 2018 – including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (Bill Hader) and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Henry Winkler) – HBO’s dark comedy series BARRY returns for Season 2 on Sunday, March 31. Created by Hader and Alec Berg, the series stars Hader in the title role as a depressed, low-rent hitman from the Midwest who finds himself drawn into a community of acting students while on a hit job in Los Angeles.
  • Following its recent premiere at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, director Dan Reed’s, two-part documentary LEAVING NEVERLAND debuts Sunday, March 3, followed by part two on Monday, March 4. Described as “harrowing…and admirably thorough” by The Hollywood Reporter, the controversial film explores the separate but parallel experiences of two young boys – James “Jimmy” Safechuk and Wade Robson – who were both befriended by Michael Jackson and invited into his wondrous world, entranced by the singer’s fairytale existence as his career reached its peak.
  • From Oscar®-winning director Alex Gibney, (GOING CLEAR: SCIENTOLOGY AND THE PRISON OF BELIEF) the new documentary and official 2019 Sundance Film Festival selection THE INVENTOR: OUT FOR BLOOD IN SILICON VALLEY premieres Monday, March 18. The film examines the rise and fall of Elizabeth Holmes, the youngest self-made female billionaire in the world whose healthcare technology Theranos was once valued at $9 billion. The film also explores the psychology of deception behind Silicon Valley’s “fake it till you make it” mindset.
  • Picking up where the hit podcast Serial left off in 2014, HBO’s new four-part documentary series THE CASE AGAINST ADNAN SYED premieres Sunday, March 10, exploring the 1999 disappearance and murder of 18-year-old Baltimore County high school student Hae Min Lee, and the conviction of her ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed. Academy Award®-nominated director Amy Berg brings a fresh eye to the murder case and trial and offers interviews with key players who were not featured in the original podcast.
  • When everyone is out for revenge, no one is safe. SHOWTIME’s hit drama series BILLIONS, starring Emmy®  and Golden Globe winners Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis, returns for Season 4, Sunday, March 17. In the new season, former enemies Bobby Axelrod (Lewis) and Chuck Rhoades (Giamatti), and Wendy Rhoades (Maggie Siff), the chief counselor to each, have come together to form an uneasy but highly effective alliance, aimed at the eradication of all their rivals, including Grigor Andolov (guest star John Malkovich) and Taylor Mason (Asia Kate Dillon). Guest stars this season include Samantha Mathis, Kevin Pollak, Jade Eshete, and Nina Arianda. Catch-up on Seasons 1- 3 of BILLIONS on Crave.
  • Also new from SHOWTIME, the four-part sports documentary series ACTION explores the legalization of sports gambling and premieres on Sunday, March 24. Peeling back the curtain on a once-taboo industry during its most critical juncture, ACTION chronicles the lives of professional gamblers, bookies, and oddsmakers throughout the 2018 NFL season following the Supreme Court decision to lift a ban on sports betting.
  • From iconic indie filmmakers Gregg Araki and Steven Soderbergh, the new STARZ comedy series NOW APOCALYPSE premieres Sunday, March 10. The series, an official selection of the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, will be available directly to consumers as part of the new STARZ add-on to Crave which launches the week of March 4. The colourful comedy, which The Hollywood Reporter says is “sure to be a cult favourite,” follows Ulysses (Avan Jogia), who is struggling to figure out his life in the surreal and bewildering city of Los Angeles. Between sexual and romantic dating-app adventures, Ulysses grows increasingly troubled, as foreboding premonitory dreams make him wonder if some kind of dark and monstrous conspiracy is going on…or if he’s just smoking too much weed. Araki co-wrote the series with author and Vogue.com sex columnist Karley Sciortino (creator and host of SLUTEVER which is also available on Crave).
  • STARZ subscribers can also look out for the 10-part documentary series AMERICA TO ME from Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Steve James (Hoop Dreams). Debuting Sunday, March 10, the series follows a diverse group of students from Chicago’s Oak Park and River Forest High School, raising complex and controversial issues such as the effects of race and privilege.
  • On Friday, March 8, International Women’s Day, the Crave Original Documentary THE WOMAN WHO LOVES GIRAFFES debuts following a limited theatrical run. The documentary that tells the unknown story of Canadian biologist Dr. Anne Innis Dagg, who, in 1956 at the age of 23, was the first person to study animal behavior in South Africa’s wilderness.
