HALIFAX (May 29, 2019)CTV Atlantic highlights the inspirational stories of patients and families from across the region whose lives have been forever changed by the IWK Health Centre with this weekend’s 35th IWK TELETHON FOR CHILDREN, with a broadcast kicking off Saturday, June 1 at 7 p.m. AT and airing until Sunday, June 2 at 6 p.m. AT. The annual fundraiser has become a valued tradition among Maritimers who give generously each year.

The IWK TELETHON FOR CHILDREN is the IWK’s largest annual fundraiser, supporting the most urgent priority needs of the IWK Health Centre, including up-to-date equipment, advanced technology, research, and improved facilities. Donations can be made by calling 1-800-595-2266 or online at www.iwkfoundation.org.

Viewers can expect to see many familiar faces from CTV Atlantic on the 2019 IWK TELETHON FOR CHILDREN, including Executive News Editor and Senior Anchor Steve Murphy, CTV NEWS AT FIVE hosts Jayson Baxter and Maria Panopalis, and Chief Meteorologist Kalin Mitchell. The entire CTV MORNING LIVE ATLANTIC team will also make appearances over the weekend.

The 2019 IWK TELETHON FOR CHILDREN features performances by Maritime musicians such as Tommy Green Jr, the Scott Saccary Band, and the Sounds of Motown.

“When Maritimers donate during the IWK TELETHON FOR CHILDREN, they become part of the team that supports each and every patient who relies on care from the IWK,” says Jennifer Gillivan, President & CEO, IWK Foundation. “Year after year, the generosity of our community ensures IWK patients and their families have access to nothing less than the best equipment, the best patient facilities, and the latest technology and research right here at home.”

“We are extremely proud to be part of the team that brings the IWK TELETHON FOR CHILDREN to our Maritime community,” said Trent McGrath, Vice-President and General Manager, CTV Atlantic. “Meeting the families who spend so much time at the IWK and sharing their stories with Maritimers is one of the most important things we do.   We’re honoured to support the life-changing work the IWK does for families across the region.”

CTV Atlantic transforms Halifax’s IWK Health Centre into a television studio for the annual telethon. The broadcast features additional live reports from Sydney, N.S., Saint John, N.B., and Charlottetown, PEI.
