CTV News and Bell Media Radio Take Home Top Honours at RTDNA Awards

TORONTO (June 7, 2014) – CTV News and Bell Media Radio properties were honoured at the annual RTDNA National Conference of Canada’s electronic journalists and news managers at a gala ceremony in Toronto this evening. CTV News and Bell Media Radio properties received 10 awards this evening. Four CTV television broadcast news programs and three Bell Media Radio submissions received national recognition, having previously earned top honours at regional RTDNA awards presented earlier this year. Tonight’s recognition brings the tally of national and regional RTDNA awards to 42 for Bell Media this year. Also, for the third consecutive year, CTV NATIONAL NEWS WITH LISA LAFLAMME was recognized with the distinguished Bert Cannings Award for Best Network Television Newscast. 

In addition, Lis Travers, Vice-President of CTV News and Executive Producer of CANADA AM, was presented with RTDNA’s highest honour – the President’s Award –  at last night’s RTDNA President’s Gala, highlighting her contributions to electronic journalism.

CTV News and Bell Media Radio highlights from this evening’s gala also include the Gord Sinclair Live Special Events win for CP24’s coverage of the Ontario Liberal Leadership Convention; the Sam Ross Award, Editorial Commentary for Newstalk 1010’s Dave Agar’s “Living with an Addict”; and the Peter Gzowski Award, News Information Program for CJAD 800’s Aaron Rand Live from Mégantic, with “Lac- Mégantic Disaster”.
