HALIFAX (November 25, 2021) – As legendary CTV News Atlantic Chief Anchor Steve Murphy steps away from flagship news program CTV NEWS AT SIX this week, the station honours the distinguished career of the Maritimes’ most-trusted anchor with a special broadcast. LIVE & LOCAL: A TRIBUTE TO STEVE MURPHY airs Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. AT on CTV Atlantic, and CTVNews.ca and the CTV News app, immediately following Murphy’s final newscast as Chief Anchor. News leadership and commitment to community are hallmarks of Murphy’s 45-year broadcasting legacy. He will continue to make contributions to the station, with special interviews, analysis, commentary, and feature storytelling, along with devoting time to charitable organizations across the region. “This special broadcast gives viewers an intimate and nostalgic look at Steve’s unparalleled career,” said Dan Appleby, News Director, CTV News Atlantic. “The program is a celebration of his life’s work and the significant impact he has made on the Maritimes.” The special features highlights of Murphy’s work over more than four decades on the air, along with reflections from former colleagues, perspectives from the charities Murphy has supported, and messages from viewers across the Maritimes. “Steve Murphy has been a constant in the lives of so many Maritimers,” said Trent McGrath, General Manager, CTV Atlantic. “For decades, we‘ve turned to him to make sense of the news of the day, and in celebrating his final broadcast as Chief Anchor, it’s our turn to show Steve what an impact he’s had on us all.” In addition to watching on CTV across the Maritimes, viewers can access CTV News Atlantic’s daily newscasts on Atlantic.CTVNews.ca and the CTV News app.
