TORONTO (May 26, 2017) – As Conservative party members gather in Toronto this weekend in the culmination of a campaign to select a new leader, CTV News presents comprehensive coverage and analysis, led by a two-night, live national special on CTV News Channel. Helmed by CTV News’ Chief Anchor and Senior Editor Lisa LaFlamme, CONSERVATIVE LEADERSHIP 2017 begins tonight (Friday, May 26) at 6:30 p.m. ET with candidate speeches, commentary, and analysis from the Toronto Congress Center. The special coverage continues with further analysis and reaction as the results of the vote are released tomorrow (Saturday, May 27) during CONSERVATIVE LEADERSHIP 2017, airing at 4:30 p.m. ET on CTV News Channel. In addition to airing on CTV News Channel, both CONSERVATIVE LEADERSHIP 2017 broadcasts will be live streamed via CTVNews.ca. During the first night of special coverage this evening, CONSERVATIVE LEADERSHIP 2017 delivers the final speeches from each of the 13 remaining Conservative party candidates. Following the candidate speeches, LaFlamme anchors a special edition of CTV NATIONAL NEWS WITH LISA LAFLAMME, live from the Toronto Congress Centre. LaFlamme will be joined for CONSERVATIVE LEADERSHIP 2017 by POWER PLAY host Don Martin, with reports from CTV News Senior Political Correspondent Glen McGregor and CTV’s QUESTION PERIOD host Evan Solomon. CONSERVATIVE LEADERSHIP 2017 also features a panel of experts, including Scott Reid, a CTV News Political Analyst and former Director of Communications under Liberal Prime Minister Paul Martin; Conservative party strategist Jason Lietaer; and former Director of Communications for the NDP, and Vice-President of the NOW Group, Joanne Deer. Coverage continues on Saturday, live from the convention, as the party issues a tribute to outgoing interim leader Rona Ambrose, reveals the ballot results, and officially selects a new leader. QUESTION PERIOD Following the selection, on Sunday, May 28 at 11 a.m. ET, CTV’s QUESTION PERIOD host Evan Solomon sits down with the party’s new leader, former interim leader Rona Ambrose, and some of the other candidates who vied for the job. Solomon leads the discussion as the party members look to the future with new leadership in place.
