KITCHENER (January 24, 2022) – CTV News Kitchener announced today the appointment of Alexandra Pinto as Anchor of CTV NEWS AT SIX. Pinto leads CTV Kitchener’s flagship newscast beginning Monday, Jan. 31. “I am thrilled to be taking on this new role, and to continue connecting with viewers in our community,” said Pinto. “I am excited to have the opportunity to step into this role and help deliver important local stories to viewers in the Waterloo region and the surrounding community.” Pinto is well known to CTV Kitchener viewers having previously led CTV NEWS AT 11:30, and more recently as the Anchor of CTV NEWS AT FIVE, where she helped steer the community through the pandemic with insightful and informative interviews with public health officials, the local schoolboards, heads of hospitals, and many other local stakeholders. Pinto attended Fanshawe College’s Television Broadcasting program and graduated with honours from the Broadcast Journalism-Television News Post Graduate program. She began her career in news a decade ago at Global News Toronto, before joining CTV Kitchener as a videographer in 2014. A native of Caledon, Ont., Pinto has made Waterloo region her home, and is deeply connected to the community she covers. “Waterloo Region is my home and I’m passionate about sharing stories that impact family, friends, neighbours, and strangers,” said Pinto. “I’m excited to continue working with our talented team to keep viewers up to date on emerging issues that affect us all.” “Alexandra is an experienced journalist with a great dedication to this community,” said Stephanie Irvine, News Director, CTV News Kitchener. “Her love of storytelling, and her connection with our viewers help her get to the heart of the stories that matter most to this region. We’re excited for her to take on this role, and to continue our mandate of delivering the news our audience can trust, each and every day.” Away from the newsroom, Pinto is an animal lover who can most often be found exploring new trails or cooking a new recipe with her fiancé and spending time with their newly adopted puppy, Kodak.
