– Hometown visits to Saskatchewan communities Outlook, Nipawin, Wakaw and Humboldt to be featured on CTV NEWS AT SIX Thursdays throughout July –
SASKATOON (June 25, 2015) – As announced last week by Co-Anchor Rob MacDonald, CTV NEWS AT SIX has selected the four communities slated to host the summer’s CTV HOMETOWN TOUR. Throughout the month of July, CTV NEWS AT SIX will broadcast tour highlights and stories featuring Saskatchewan’s Outlook, Nipawin, Wakaw, and Humboldt communities. Scheduled to air on four consecutive Thursday evenings through the month of July, the first segment, featuring the town of Outlook, airs Thursday, July 2.
Every spring and fall, viewers are invited to nominate their communities for the CTV HOMETOWN TOUR, sharing the features that make their communities special. From the nominations received, four communities are selected, culminating with each having its community stories broadcast on CTV NEWS AT SIX. CTV Saskatoon’s valued partnership with Western Canada’s Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) makes it possible to take the show on the road.
“The CTV HOMETOWN TOUR presents a wonderful opportunity to showcase to residents throughout the region the vibrant history and extraordinary spirit of the communities featured in each Hometown we visit,” said David Fisher, Vice-President and General Manager of CTV Saskatchewan. “We are thankful to our partner Co-op for being our greatly valued partner in this journey.”
“We’re very excited to be out on the road again for the CTV HOMETOWN TOUR,” said Dani Mario, Director of News and Public Affairs, CTV Saskatoon. “It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase the people and events that make each community in Saskatchewan unique, and we can’t wait to tell these stories.”
“The CTV HOMETOWN TOUR is such a great fit for our organization, because we share the values of being community-minded and locally invested,” said Leah Andrew, Associate Vice-President, Marketing and Communications for Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL). “With 2,500 retail locations in cities and towns across Western Canada Co-op has become a fixture in many communities, large and small, and we are excited to join CTV in celebrating Saskatchewan communities throughout the summer of 2015 and beyond.”
Launched in 2009, the CTV HOMETOWN TOUR has travelled to more than 100 communities across the province of Saskatchewan. Its founding vision – to serve the well-being of community – remains its proud standard.
