SASKATOON (December 31, 2021) – CTV News Saskatoon announced tonight during CTV NEWS AT SIX that Colin Clay is the recipient of the 2021 Saskatoon Citizen of the Year Award. “Colin is an outstanding citizen, and his support and guidance has touched many in our community,” said Jeff Bollenbach, General Manager, Manitoba/Saskatchewan, Radio and Television, Bell Media. “An ordained member of the Anglican Church, he has long supported ecumenism and has strived to bridge differences and bring communities together through the commonality that unites us all.” Clay is a Korean War veteran with the British Army and made Canada his home with his family after his ordination as an Anglican priest. He is the former president of Multifaith Saskatoon and the Saskatoon Food Bank, and served as ecumenical chaplain at the University of Saskatchewan. He has been a supporter of the LGBTQ2S+ community since the province’s first Pride Parade in 1974. An author of several books, Rev. Clay is a father of four, a grandfather, and a great-grandfather. The Saskatoon Citizen of the Year Award presented by CTV is an annual tradition now in its 55th year. Each November, CTV Saskatoon accepts nominations from viewers for the Saskatoon Citizen of the Year Award and presents the award at the end of December to an individual who exemplifies excellence in community service.
