TORONTO (November 17, 2022) – As a growing number of local families struggle amid the increasing cost of living and economic uncertainty, CTV News Toronto aims to assist those in need during the 27th annual TOY MOUNTAIN campaign in support of The Salvation Army. Beginning tomorrow, TOY MOUNTAIN is collecting new, unwrapped toys for families, with additional details to be announced during a special live broadcast from Mel Lastman Square on CTV News Toronto’s CTV NEWS AT SIX tomorrow night. CTV News Toronto delivers nightly TOY MOUNTAIN updates over the course of this year’s campaign, culminating with the finale on Friday, Dec. 16. CTV News Toronto’s Lyndsay Morrison and Andria Case proudly lead the TOY MOUNTAIN collection effort, delivering progress updates live from various collection stops across the GTHA, on Toronto’s most-watched evening newscast, CTV NEWS AT SIX, airing on CTV, CTVNewsToronto.ca, and the CTV News app. Viewers can also track campaign updates by visiting the TOY MOUNTAIN website and social media platforms. The 2022 campaign marks 27 years of generosity from viewers and donors, helping to make the season brighter for thousands of children across the GTHA. TOY MOUNTAIN encourages local residents to get in the spirit of the holidays by donating toys for all age groups. “TOY MOUNTAIN is a favourite event of the holiday season, and CTV News Toronto is honoured to be part of this very meaningful campaign once again,” said Ramneek Gill, General Manager, CP24 & CTV News Toronto. “Each and every year, we are amazed at the incredible generosity of our viewers, and we look forward to doing our small part to make the holidays brighter for children of all ages across the GTHA.” “The Salvation Army is deeply grateful for our ongoing partnership with CTV News Toronto and the TOY MOUNTAIN campaign,” said Glenn van Gulik, Divisional Secretary for Public Relations at The Salvation Army in Ontario. “For vulnerable families across the region, this campaign provides more than a toy. With inflation leading to increased grocery bills and many children living in food-insecure households, these toys from our Army of Givers put smiles on children’s faces, and helps to brighten the holidays for struggling families. They also provide the opportunity for families to access other vital Salvation Army programs and services that can help with food, clothing, housing supports, and much more.” TOY MOUNTAIN’s dedicated online portal features a list of drop-off locations, social media updates, and more. Supporters are able to make financial donations online and receive a tax receipt from The Salvation Army. Supporters can also receive social media updates by following @ToyMountain, @ctvtoymountain, and by liking the campaign’s Facebook page. The annual TOY MOUNTAIN campaign is upheld by the longstanding partnership between CTV Toronto and The Salvation Army, with CTV News Toronto driving promotional efforts and The Salvation Army leading collection and distribution logistics. TOY MOUNTAIN is made possible with the generous support of the campaign’s major sponsor, Toronto Area Ford Dealers.
