CTV Presents 2013 Regina Citizen of the Year Award

REGINA (December 31, 2013) – David Fisher, Vice-President and General Manager for CTV Saskatchewan, announced today on CTV NEWS AT SIX that Don McDougall is the 2013 Regina Citizen of the Year Award recipient.  

“Don is an outstanding example of dedicated community service,” said Fisher. “For more than 40 years, he’s made great contributions to Regina’s charity-minded organizations and throughout his service, he has placed great emphasis on the development of youth.”

A retired school teacher and school administrator, over the last four decades, McDougall dedicated thousands of hours outside of work in the service of sports organizations and charitable groups. 

From 1973 to the early 2000s, McDougall held executive positions with the Regina Rams Football Club. He also has a storied history with the Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club, as member of the Game Day Production Team from 1970 to 1999. Other sports-related volunteer posts include membership on the Silver Broom special events committee from 1973 to 1983; and extensive committee and board work with the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame and Museum, and SaskSport. McDougall’s emphasis on positive youth mentorship is clearly reflected in the sports arena, and is also evidenced in current volunteer service with Ranch Ehrlo.

Every November, CTV accepts nominations for the Regina Citizen of the Year Award, and presents the award to a winner who exemplifies excellence in community service at the end of December.
