SASKATOON (December 31, 2013) – David Fisher, Vice-President and General Manager for CTV Saskatchewan, announced today on CTV NEWS AT SIX that Dennis Beerling is the 2013 Saskatoon Citizen of the Year Award recipient.  

“Dennis truly exemplifies community service,” said Fisher. “His commitment to our sports and arts community and the youth of our city has influenced and inspired many generations.”

Beerling has coached softball, track and field, basketball and hockey at local, provincial and national levels. He has tirelessly volunteered and served on many sports boards including the Saskatchewan Wheelchair Sports Association.

He has supported the local arts community as one of the founders of  Gateway Players, served with the Saskatoon Theatre for Children, and directed countless productions with elementary and high schools, Saskatoon Summer Players, and Mayfair United Church.

 

Every November, CTV accepts nominations for the Saskatoon Citizen of the Year Award, and presents the award to a winner who exemplifies excellence in community service at the end of December.
