In a special 50
th anniversary broadcast of
THE SOUND MUSIC, winner of five 1965 Academy Awards®, including Best Picture, Julie Andrews (
Mary Poppins) in her Academy award-winning role, stars as Maria, a young Austrian woman, studying to become a nun who is sent from her convent to be the governess to seven children of a widowed naval commander, Captain Georg Ritter von Trapp (Christopher Plummer,
Beginners). Arriving at the Von Trapp home, Maria discovers that her new boss is cold and aloof, and the children hostile and mischievous. Maria soon learns that all these children need is love and attention to change their attitudes, and through her, joy and music are brought back into the hearts and home of the Von Trapp family. The home cooks’ first Team Challenge requires them to cook a hearty performance day lunch for the world-class acrobats, performers, and crew of Cirque du Soleil’s show
Kurios: A Cabinet of Curiosities. Once back in the
MASTERCHEF CANADA kitchen, the losing team faces the dreaded Pressure Test, in which they are challenged to master a historic Québécois dish.
8 p.m. – ONCE UPON A TIME – “Darkness on the Edge of Town” – MID-SEASON RETURN
With Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle) banished from town, the residents of Storybrooke attempt to resume their normal lives. Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) and Belle (Emilie de Ravin) search for a way to release the fairies from the Sorcerer’s hat, while Emma (Jennifer Morrison), Henry (Jared S. Gilmore), and Regina (Lana Parrilla) continue to look for clues that could lead them to the Author. But when a terrifying darkness descends on the town, Emma and Regina are forced to confront the true nature of evil. Meanwhile, in New York, Gold and Ursula (Merrin Dungey, BROOKLYN NINE-NINE) enlist Cruella De Vil (Victoria Smurfit, DRACULA) to join their cause.
9 p.m. – SECRETS AND LIES – “The Trail” / “The Father” – TWO-HOUR SERIES PREMIERE
In the two-hour series premiere of
SECRETS AND LIES, family man Ben Crawford (Ryan Phillippe) is out for his usual morning jog when he comes upon the body of young Tom Murphy (Aiden Malik). After the news begins to spread throughout town, Detective Andrea Cornell (Juliette Lewis), who’s been assigned to the case, pays Ben a visit for routine questioning. In the blink of an eye, Ben quickly turns from Good Samaritan to murder suspect. As the formidable detective searches for the facts, the media hone in on Ben and his family, and he struggles to escape from the pressure. Ben decides to take matters into his own hands by investigating those that were closest to Tom after receiving shocking information about the case from Detective Cornell. At home, Ben’s family continues to drift apart when he overhears his oldest daughter, Natalie Crawford (Indiana Evans), on a suspicious phone call. 8 p.m. – GOTHAM – “Everyone Has A Cobblepot” – NEW EPISODE
While Gordon (Ben McKenzie) seeks information about the recent controversy with Commissioner Loeb (Peter Scolari), Fish’s (Jada Pinkett Smith) allegiance with the prisoners is questioned when she appears to join forces with Dr. Dulmacher (Colm Feore, SENSITIVE SKIN). Meanwhile, after an attack close to home, Bruce (David Mazouz) deals with the aftermath.
9 p.m. – FOREVER – “Social Engineering” – NEW EPISODE
Henry (Ioan Gruffudd) and Jo (Alana de la Garza) examine the world of cyber-terrorism to track down a killer when a member of a secret hack-tivist group turns up dead. The investigation also puts Henry in jeopardy of having his own secret exposed. He must walk a fine line between judging if others’ secrets are worth keeping in order to save himself, or be ready to take off – again. Flashbacks to an 1865 London hospital revisit Henry’s first wife, Nora, who is now in her 70s and threatening once again to reveal Henry’s condition, with disastrous results.

9 p.m. – MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. –“Aftershocks” – MID-SEASON RETURN
In the midseason return of
MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D., Coulson’s (Clark Gregg) team must deal with the consequences of their war with Hydra. New threats to the world have arisen, including Skye’s father, Cal (Kyle McLachlan), who now seeks retribution against Coulson for stealing his revenge against Whitehall (Reed Diamond, STATE OF AFFAIRS); a disturbing alliance between former S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Ward (Brett Dalton) and Agent 33 (Maya Stojan, CASTLE); the enigmatic Raina (Ruth Negga), who struggles with her transformation into something inhuman by the alien Obelisk and seeks vengeance; and Skye (Chloe Bennet), who has developed mysterious new powers from the Obelisk but whose lack of experience with her new abilities may threaten the safety of those she loves.

CSI: CYBER, debuting on World CSI Day, Special Agent Avery Ryan (a character inspired by the advanced technological work of real-life Cyber Psychologist Mary Aiken) and her team of FBI cyber analysts investigate a case of hacked baby monitors.

7 p.m. – GREY’S ANATOMY – “The Distance” – NEW EPISODE
Dr. Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) engages in the surgery of a lifetime as a crowd of doctors look on from the gallery. With Stephanie (Jerrika Hinton) by her side, she begins operating on Dr. Herman (Geena Davis, COMMANDER IN CHIEF), but quickly realizes it’s far more difficult than she anticipated. Meanwhile, Bailey (Chandra Wilson) becomes skeptical when Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) takes on one of Herman’s cases.

In the series premiere of AMERICAN CRIME, created by Academy Award

12 Years A Slave), a community is shaken and tensions are stirred across socioeconomic and racial lines. Following the home invasion murder of war veteran Matt Skokie (Grant Merritt), and an assault on his wife Gwen (Kira Pozehl) four suspects are brought into custody: Tony Gutiérrez (Johnny Ortiz), an impressionable teen who got in way over his head even under the watchful eye of his dedicated and hard-working father, Alonzo Gutiérrez (Benito Martinez); Hector Tontz (Richard Cabral), a young man who has lived life on the fringes of society and has made bad decisions just to survive; and Carter Nix (Elvis Nolasco) and Aubry Taylor (Caitlin Gerard), two incredibly lost souls whose addiction to drugs and to one another has become destructive and paralyzing.

In a made-in-America episode of
SHARK TANK, two young women model their pretty, custom recruitment clothing for sororities, which is expanding into a bridal line. Also, a native New Yorker showcases his simple tools that easily open a Thai coconut and extract the meat, and a salesman from Chattanooga, Tennessee touts his invention that can transform any pickup truck into what he calls “a Truck-U-V,” by adding seats in the flatbed to accommodate more passengers.
10 p.m. – BLUE BLOODS – “Occupational Hazards” – NEW EPISODE
Erin Reagan-Boyle (Bridget Moynahan) is rattled when an unknown assailant breaks into her apartment and also attacks her co-worker. Meanwhile, Officer Jamie Reagan (Will Estes) and Officer Eddie Jenko (Vanessa Ray) discover a pipe bomb in an elderly woman’s apartment, and Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) looks into a charity that is soliciting money for the NYPD.

While under scrutiny from the entire neighbourhood, Ben makes a startling discovery about a piece of evidence that could be used to implicate him in the murder of his son. Ben Crawford (Ryan Phillippe) uncovers the truth about Natalie’s (Indiana Evans) whereabouts two nights before Tom Murphy (Aiden Malik) died, when she supposedly was babysitting the young boy, leading Ben to confront his neighbours Dr. Joseph Richardson (Steven Brand) and Vanessa Richardson (Kate Ashfield). After learning about the strange circumstances surrounding the death of their son, a suspicious Ben is convinced that they possibly were involved in Tom’s death. Meanwhile, Detective Cornell (Juliette Lewis) confirms the murder weapon and springs another bombshell on Ben, who still can’t recall his actions the night Tom died.

Detectives Brian Lucas (Brendan Penny), Angie Flynn (Kristin Lehman), and Oscar Vega (Louis Ferreira) investigate the homicide of a high-end call girl, and their shocking discovery about the victim’s double life complicates the investigation.
