TORONTO (November 22, 2021) – CTV Toronto aims to make the holiday season brighter for those in need during the 26th annual TOY MOUNTAIN campaign in support of The Salvation Army. Starting today, TOY MOUNTAIN begins collecting new, unwrapped toys for families, with additional details to be announced tonight (Monday, Nov. 22) on CTV Toronto’s CTV NEWS AT SIX. The newscast delivers live TOY MOUNTAIN donation updates nightly through the culmination of the campaign on Monday, Dec. 20. This year, the annual charitable toy collection drive proudly marks 26 years of helping spread holiday cheer for families across the GTA. TOY MOUNTAIN encourages the city to get in the spirit of the holidays by donating toys for all age groups. CTV Toronto Anchor and Reporter Andria Case leads the TOY MOUNTAIN collection effort, delivering progress updates throughout the campaign live from various collection stops across the GTA, on Toronto’s most-watched evening newscast CTV NEWS AT SIX, on CTV, CTVNews.ca and CTV.ca, and the CTV News and CTV apps. Viewers can also track campaign updates by visiting the TOY MOUNTAIN website. “It’s a great honour for our team to be a part of this beloved annual campaign,” said Michael Melling, General Manager, CTV News Toronto. “We’re excited to share in the magic of giving with our viewers throughout this holiday season, as we witness the generosity and support of our remarkable community.” “During the Christmas season, The Salvation Army continues to provide hope for thousands of families across the province who are dealing with the challenges of homelessness, food insecurity, unemployment and mental health,” said Glenn van Gulik, Divisional Secretary for Public Relations, The Salvation Army Ontario Division. “For over two decades, The Salvation Army and CTV Toronto have partnered to eliminate barriers for our community’s most vulnerable and have worked together as innovative partners to bring joy into children’s lives.” TOY MOUNTAIN’s dedicated online portal features a list of drop-off locations, social media updates, and more. Supporters are able to make financial donations online and receive a tax receipt from The Salvation Army. Supporters can also text TOYS to 30333 to donate $25 to the campaign, and can receive social media updates by following @ToyMountain, @ctvtoymountain, and by liking the campaign’s Facebook page. The annual TOY MOUNTAIN campaign is upheld by the longstanding partnership between CTV Toronto and The Salvation Army, with CTV Toronto driving promotional efforts and The Salvation Army leading collection and distribution logistics. TOY MOUNTAIN is made possible with the generous support of the campaign’s major sponsor, Toronto Area Ford Dealers. To ensure the TOY MOUNTAIN campaign runs safely and successfully during the COVID-19 pandemic, the campaign’s sorting facility is following strict health and safety protocols, including the use of PPE and health screening. All staff and volunteers are fully vaccinated and will observe on-site protocols at donor and client sites. All toys donated will be left untouched for a minimum of 72 hours before being handled.
