Windsor, ON (November 25, 2013) – Location location, location! CTV News Windsor embraces the popular real estate mantra, setting up shop today in the historic Bell Canada building (1149 Goyeau Street) located in downtown Windsor. The new studio bridges history with the future – the art deco structure built in 1929 retains its architectural grandeur typical of the era, while inside, CTV has built out a state-of-the-art newsroom, complete with the latest technology and resources available in broadcasting. Beginning tonight, viewers can expect to be greeted by a fresh, new look and feel in the newsroom. The set features an exclusive panoramic view of the majestic skyline, available only from the Canadian side of the Detroit River, and a look inside CTV’s “working newsroom”, which will be visible throughout the newscast.

In a move to officially celebrate CTV Windsor’s relocation, this week has been proclaimed “CTV Windsor Week” by the City of Windsor and signed off by Mayor Eddie Francis. The one-week housewarming party toasts two decades of CTV Windsor’s unwavering commitment to delivering news that matters most to Windsor viewers, as well as the station’s tireless support of local businesses and partnership in community investment.

“Our new studio location on the sixth floor of Bell Canada’s regional headquarters provides our cameras and viewers a clear view of the Windsor / Detroit skyline – a central pulse point to the history, economy, and future of the Windsor region,” said Dan Appleby, News Director, CTV Windsor. “As Windsor’s #1 newscast, the refreshed studio will offer a new look and feel that will keep our dedicated viewers engaged. We look forward to providing a glimpse behind the scenes with our “working newsroom” environment, not to mention a stellar view of the skyline. And we are proud to have the city declare CTV Windsor Week, illustrating our vital role to viewers and residents across the community.”

The newly minted studio will provide a bright and energized environment for the  reporters, producers, and additional CTV Windsor staff as they unpack their boxes and get settled in to the station’s new downtown digs. The move follows a decision made in April, 2013 to relocate before end of the calendar year.
