OTTAWA (August 16, 2021) – With the 2021 federal election campaign officially kicking off, CTV News’ QUESTION PERIOD, the most-watched political program in the country, returns for its 51st season beginning this Sunday, Aug. 22 at 11 a.m. ET on CTV, CTV News Channel, CTVNews.ca, and the CTV News app. POWER PLAY, CTV News Channel’s marquee daily political program, returns today (Monday, Aug. 16) with special extended two-hour editions for the duration of the election, weeknights from 5 – 7 p.m. ET on CTV News Channel, CTVNews.ca, and the CTV News app.

The new seasons of both of CTV News’ flagship political affairs programs are led by host Evan Solomon, with CTV News Ottawa Bureau Chief Joyce Napier hosting POWER PLAY on Fridays.

POWER PLAY delivers unparalleled insight and commentary on the latest from the campaign trail, featuring regular appearances by campaign war room staffers as they cover every turn in the race to form Canada’s next government. The political television program of record for Canadians across the country, POWER PLAY highlights the people and players that dominate the political scene in Canada every weeknight.

“This new election campaign is bringing a wide variety of issues to the forefront, including our ongoing response to the pandemic, the economy, climate change, social justice issues, and more,” said Solomon. “Canadians can trust both QUESTION PERIOD and POWER PLAY to provide a clear and thorough picture of the Canadian political landscape, and we look forward to engaging viewers as we cover this federal election and its ramifications throughout the coming year.”

QUESTION PERIOD airs Sundays at 11 a.m. ET on CTV and CTV News Channel, with encore presentations airing Sundays at 5 p.m. ET on CTV News Channel, as well as through CTVNews.ca/QP, the CTV News app, via podcast, and Sundays at 12 noon ET on CTV Two (visit CTVNews.ca/QP for detailed listings).
