TORONTO (August 5, 2014) – Discovery’s DAILY PLANET can’t hold Grammy Award®-winner Macklemore down from his ultimate shark dream – taking a submersible to search for one of the largest, most-elusive sharks in the world – The Sixgill! Premiering Monday, August 11 at 7 p.m. ET during specialty TV’s most iconic summer event – “Shark Week” – Macklemore joins deep-sea superstar scientist Dr. Erika Montague for a breathtaking voyage deep below the surface where no light shines…but how will the prehistoric sharks that live in the dark react to lights from their sub? They’re about to find out.

In a worldwide exclusive immersion, Macklemore joins his “homegirl” and science superstar, Dr. Erika Montague – Director of Science and Technology at Oceangate – in a submersible located in Elliot Bay off downtown Seattle’s waterfront, heading 120 meters underwater to sit on the sea bottom…waiting for the Sixgill…one of the only species in the world that has more than five gills. Will this pre-historic dream become a “Shark Week” reality for the Grammy®-winning rap superstar?
