Daniel Dae Kim Scrubs in on THE GOOD DOCTOR and Our Fave Dr. is Directing

— January 15, 2019

New year. New surgeries. New surgeon. Canada’s #1 drama THE GOOD DOCTOR returned for a midseason checkup last night (Jan. 14) on CTV with Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) and the rest of the staff at St. Bonaventure Hospital overwhelmed while dealing with the tense and life-threatening quarantine situation that befell them in the fall finale. While Shaun was forced to step up and perform an emergency caesarean section for the first time, Dr. Morgan Reznick (Fiona Gubelmann) fought to keep Dr. Audrey Lim (Christina Chang) alive after she contracted the airborne disease. On next week’s episode of THE GOOD DOCTOR (Jan. 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CTV and the CTV app), the staff of St. Bonaventure Hospital try to return to their normal routines following the aftermath of the quarantine, as the Department of Public Health Office begin a review into what transpired. As new episodes continue rolling out this season, Executive Producer Daniel Dae Kim and series lead Freddie Highmore are set to swap roles. Kim, of LOST and HAWAII FIVE-O fame, has a recurring role as Dr. Jackson Han, a “brash” new Chief of Surgery who shaks things up for Shaun and the rest of St. Bonaventure. Kim will appear in the final four episodes of the season – his first TV role since HAWAII FIVE-0. Meanwhile, series lead Highmore heads behind the camera as the Golden Globe®-nominated actor directs Kim’s first guest-starring episode, airing Monday, Feb. 11 on CTV. “As a fan of our show, I’m thrilled to be doing a guest arc with such a talented, kind and hard-working cast,” says Kim. “David [Shore] and I have been looking for the right opportunity and we’ve found a character that’s both dynamic and surprising.” Kim adds that Highmore is “proving to be as talented behind the camera as in front of it.” Episodic images for THE GOOD DOCTOR are available for download at BellMediaPR.ca.
