TORONTO (July 15, 2013) – Beginning Thursday, August 22 at 8 p.m. ET/ 9 p.m. PT,  Romantic dinners under the stars and cozy movie nights cuddled up on the couch turn into living nightmares faster than anyone expects during Investigation Discovery’s new six-part series DATES FROM HELL. The series profiles astounding cases of romances that are dead upon arrival – when the search for love turns into a struggle to get out alive. Whether it’s just being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or a seemingly perfect match that takes a twisted turn, survivors discuss what it was like to live through and escape a true date from hell.

 A date goes terribly wrong when a teenage girl finds herself locked in a car with a dangerous man. In a case of mistaken identity, it’s already too late when Nikita Silva realizes the man she’s in a car with is not the boy from her school she believed to be chatting with online. Locked in a car speeding down the interstate, Silva quietly calls 911 and attempts to explain the situation. The dispatcher sends out police to search for the car on the highway but Silva fears her window of opportunity to escape is running out. Too scared to wait for help to arrive, she attempts a great escape. Determined not to be a victim, the young girl choses to take a dangerous course of action

DATES FROM HELL: “Tourist Terror”

Keri Potts was a career-minded woman. She traveled to Italy with a good friend for some much needed rest and relaxation. On the vacation of a lifetime, she suddenly finds herself in a world of trouble. After accepting a date from a local man she is forced to fight for her life to escape a violent predator. After a knockdown, drag-out fight, a chance encounter with an unexpected hero allows her to escape to safety. Finally, with the help of the U.S. Embassy, Potts gets some bittersweet justice.
