MONTREAL, February 19, 2014—At 1 p.m. this Sunday, all eyes will be turned to Daytona International Speedway in Florida as RDS2 kicks off its coverage of the 2014 Sprint Cup season with the Daytona 500. All in all, RDS and RDS2, as official NASCAR broadcasters, will show almost 70 Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series races in 2014 (click here for complet schedule).
The Sprint Cup
The Sprint Cup’s 66th season will get into gear with the most prestigious event on the calendar, the Daytona 500. This year’s race will see last year’s champion, American driver Jimmie Johnson, defending his title.
Veterans Kyle and Kurt Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, Carl Edwards, Tony Stewart and Danica Patrick will be back behind the wheel again this season as they try to claim the Sprint Cup – U.S. stock car racing’s ultimate prize.
The Nationwide Series
As for the Nationwide Series, its 33rd season will get underway this Saturday at 1:30 p.m. ET, with last year’s series champion, Austin Dillon, seeking to be first across the finish line in the DRIVE4COPD 300. The race will be broadcast live on RDS2.
During the season, fans will be able to watch drivers such as Sam Hornish, Jr., Elliott Sadler, Nelson Piquet, Jr. and Reed Sorenson, not to mention Quebec’s Maryeve Dufault.
NASCAR on RDS and RDS2
Race commentary will be provided by Didier Schraenen and Dominic Fugère, while Patrick Carpentier, Marc Cantin and Éric Descarries will provide expert analysis of each event.
New: Didier Schraenen and Patrick Carpentier will offer exclusive analysis via online videos following Sprint Cup races. Patrick Carpentier will also continue contributing columns to RDS.ca, as will Quebec driver Andrew Ranger, who will be competing in the NASCAR Canadian Tire series this season.
TSN will provide English coverage of the Daytona 500 on Sunday, starting at 1 p.m. ET.
