- THE KING OF STATEN ISLAND, the semi-autobiographical comedy-drama starring Pete Davidson (SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE), begins streaming Friday, Jan. 1. Scott (Davidson) has been a case of arrested development ever since his firefighter father died when he was seven. He reaches his mid-20s having achieved little, still chasing a dream of becoming a tattoo artist that seems far out of reach. As his ambitious younger sister (Maude Apatow, HBO’s EUPHORIA) heads off to college, Scott is still living with his exhausted ER nurse mother (Marisa Tomei, Spider-Man: Far from Home). He spends his days smoking weed and hanging with the guys – Oscar (Ricky Velez, MASTER OF NONE), Igor (Moises Arias, Five Feet Apart), and Richie (Lou Wilson, THE GUEST BOOK) – while secretly hooking up with his childhood friend Kelsey (Bel Powley, THE MORNING SHOW). When his mother starts dating a loudmouth firefighter named Ray (Bill Burr, F IS FOR FAMILY), it sets off a chain of events that force Scott to grapple with his grief and take his first tentative steps toward moving forward in life.
- Set in the dazzling world of the L.A. music scene, THE HIGH NOTE begins streaming Friday, Jan. 1. Grace Davis (Tracee Ellis Ross, BLACK-ISH) is a superstar whose talent and ego have reached unbelievable heights. Maggie (Dakota Johnson, Fifty Shades of Grey) is Grace’s overworked personal assistant who is stuck running errands, but still aspires to her dream of becoming a music producer. Things come to a head when Grace’s long-time manager (Ice Cube, 21 Jump Street) presents the singer with a choice that could alter the course of her career, and Grace must choose between playing it safe or listening to her heart in a decision that could change her life forever.
- HBO’s new eight-episode Spanish-language drama series 30 COINS, premieres with two episodes Monday, Jan. 4 beginning at 9 p.m. ET. Produced by HBO Europe in Spain and an official selection of the 77th Venice International Film Festival, the drama introduces viewers to a world where nothing is as it seems, and nobody can be trusted. Father Vergara (Eduard Fernández) is an exorcist, boxer, and ex-convict who is exiled by the church to be the priest of a remote town in Spain. He wants to forget and be forgotten, but his enemies soon find him. Strange things begin happening, and an unlikely task force of Mayor Paco (Miguel Ángel Silvestre) and local vet Elena (Megan Montaner) seek the truth, while reality is distorted by a cursed coin at the heart of a global conspiracy.
- From the team behind the “I AM” documentary series that offers audiences an inside look at the lives of fascinating figures like Heath Ledger, Steve McQueen, Chris Farley, and Paul Walker, I AM JACKIE O begins streaming Monday, Jan. 4. The documentary follows Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis’ evolution from society debutant, to young mother and First Lady, to America’s obsession, and, finally, American icon.
